I got a great travel package price but wonder if the Amari Atrium is GF or not... For me it's a key question I think since I'll be there between xmas and New Yrs so if I'm going to book a more GF hotel perhaps I'd better do it now... Ideas????

I see you posted this twice with not much response, so I'll chip in with my "50 cents".
Never been at this hotel, but a quick search in this forum tells me it is not very GF. And the location is not all that good.
My option would not to take that risk - go for a "sure thing" on Sukhumvit near your favourite hangout.
The package deal may seem cheap. But sitting in taxis all night and spending money on ST hotels will break the budget.

Thanks for that input... the prior info on Atrium I saw was a bit inconclusive.... Either way, I think though that your judgement's correct... This'll be my first time in BKK so I'll stay where the forum has recommended as tops in the past....
I'm wondering if a place (perhaps a serviced flat?) with a nice large jacuzzi would be possible... I did that recently in Kiev with 2 gals and, good lord, that was one fine bubblebath!

Well. If you wan't the jacuzzi I would try out the President Solitaire... I do believe they do have some nice rooms with jacuzzi. I was going to try it out on my last (first) trip to BKK, but, but fell in love being close to the Sukhumvit main road. Solitaire is a bit off road (10 min. walking distance?).
As I did a lot of reading and hotel shopping before and during my stay in BKK, my advice is this (if your budget is not unlimited) :
Find a good quality, modern, clean and GF hotel in a great location. They are hard to get by, but some choices there are, if you not throw additional demands like jacuzzis on top of if... Girls would not care much about 42 inch TV and jacuzzis anyway, so...
From my short experience I would recommend:
Swiss grottino (modern, great location: soi 19, very GF) and Royal President (soi 16, not that great a location (it is good), but larger room with better bed and it has a pool...). Also very GF.
Choosing a hotel in BKK is not easy. This forum is a great resource, but we all have different tastes. I've looked into a few hotels recommended in this forum and would not stay in them...
But: Do not underestimate location.

stayed at the amari atrium last christmas, booked in together with my thai wife and on the same night they asked questions who she was, so I gave him a mouthful, then the wife went back to her village and every tg I brought back there was no questions asked. so I can't see you having to many problems there, just remember to book room for 2 people.

James Bond and others. thanks mucho for your great insight... But James Bond how close is Atrium to the 'action' areas (Sukhumvit main road...?).. Kind of hard to judge based on the maps I see...

rendorseg-if you look at the map of New Petcburi Road, there are many "action" areas as you are right in the middle of New Petchburi Road. Of course this does not have as much as Sukhmvit but it is OK.

Stayed there in January 2004. Booked a double room on Latestays.com for 1900 per night. They upgraded me to a corner room. Had my regular Bangkok girl back during the day, no problems. Took a girl back at night and was charged an 800 joiners fee. I signed at reception and paid when I left, so no scam by reception staff. So, I paid 2700 for a really nice corner room, good value. If I'd paid the same for a standard room it wouldn't have been a very good deal.

This hotel is not gf. On the bright side last Jan-Feb when I stayed here there are quite a lot of FL across the street. I didn't believe my Thai friend at first until we drove across before going to Poseidon. All kind of FL just started telling us prices.
