Hi,
has anybody ever been to one of these cowboy resorts in Khao Yai?
Something like Cowboy City Resort or Pensak Resort.
Or maybe another place where it would be nice to go with a few people and kids.
Would just be nice to sit around a campfire, grill a little and there should also be horses.

Not really a reply, but a comment.
It is somewhat refreshing to see someone asking for a hotel/resort not asking if it is girl friendly.
A cowboy themed resort seems like a good place to take your kids (I still remember my childhood; I would have loved it back then).
Reminds me to ge a family for myself...

Stayed at some Cowboy Resort in Khao Yai in November 02. We were almost the only guests there, no activities. Cabins only OK. Most happening thing Bats flying out of Chang Mountain in the evening. Tried a steak at the Cowboy resturant. It was so bad the Thai dog begging for food would not eat the steak. Although the dogs stood watch all night at our cabin porch door. It made it so homey.
My suggestion try some place else.
If you hike to the water fall in the park wear hiking gatters. The trail is loaded with leaches. We had the those blood suckers all over. In the parking lot every time my TGF (now wife) found one on her, she would start screaming hysterically. I would have to pull the little suckers off. The Thais gave me looks, like why in hell is the falang beating the TG.

I have stayed several times at Mission Hills Golf Course Hotel in Khao Yai. Very quiet out there but great if all you are looking for is a nice golf course.
I did go to the Cowboy restaurant and bar last time and they had a local band of C&W singers that suprised me. They were not outstanding but did a good job and totally unexpected by me. I think they play on Friday and Saturday nights (maybe Thursday also?).
Food was good I thought, maybe a new chef since 2002. Songs by Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, and a lot of other popular western singers were sung. They also sang some Thai songs.
Nice crowd and an enjoyable evening.
