I have stayed in hotels in BKK ranging from the sublime (Oriental, Dusit Thani) to the mediocre (Somerset, Menam, Amari) but I can confidenly say the Arnoma is the worst VFM I have met. I was only there because my usuals (Novotel Lotus, Windsor Suites) werre fully booked like almost everything else for end of November. The amusingly-named Precision Reservations was useless, offering me places at $100 a night when I had specified $50 to $60. Eventually GoThailand (part of Diethelm, I think) put me in the Arnoma, debited bank account and sent voucher. Was in BKK earlier in month and decided to check out the place and make sure reservation OK. Staff denied all knowledge, kept repeating they were fully booked, laughed at voucher and told me to contact agency. Which I did and spent an an entire day commuting to hotel and phoning agency while insolent and surly counter staff denied all knowledge. When I did finally arrive they did have a booking. The rooms are small, the walls paper thin. Pray your neighbour does not want an early wake up call because you get it too. BBC but no CNN. Breakfast Ok but in coffee shop on ground floor which spills into lobby: fine if you want to eat amid the milling herds of Asian tourists. For the record joiner fee 1000 baht but at Chit Lom you are some way from the action.

I forgot to mention that the lighting console did not work and a wake-up call never happened.

You should have booked a double, at least I was able to avoid the joiner fee. Otherwise, I pretty much agree with your comments. I wouldn't stay there again for the price they're asking (about 2000).
