I tried to get a reservation at a few Sukumvit area hotels before I returned form Pattaya, got no answers for 2 days.
I came on anyways knowing I would get a room someplace. I had a cab bring me up, I found out the driver spoke very little English. When we got to BKK he kept wanting to take me to the airport, I finally got him to understand I wanted to go to the Nana area.
I didn't know what street we were on but I could see Nana and Raj Ha hotels ahead, I knew we were in the hood. I spied a wee little sign, Grand Inn. Had the ole boy pull over and I got out. Paid him, the bell hop grabbed my bag and the desk lady had me a room.
The Grand Inn is soi 3 just a few steps from Sukumvit Rd.
It's small, looks like four room on each floor and seven stories tall. They have a small cafe with good food and today it looks like it's the favorite hang out for the local police.
I've seen quite a few "ladies" coming and going with no questions asked so I'm taking up one this afternoon.
My room is small but very clean, good water pressure and plenty of hot water. The TV is itsy bitsy but I didn't get the room for the TV.
Nice and quite, good place to stay.

That was the first place I stayed in November 2003,
well that was until the big FIRE !
the building next door caught on fire,
there are NO fire alarms or lights in the Grand Inn,
I just had a frantic knock on the door at 5am !
It was a big fire, lots of smoke damage and they did not give me any discount for the 1/2 night.
I would not stay there unless they put fire alarms in
PS....look at the building next store, 2-3 story, I bet its still burned out

1030 Bt a night, that was the walk up rate. No guest fee for a girl I took up my last night for about 2 hrs. I did tip the door man and night desk lady each night.
Not sure if they have installed any fire alarms and didn't see any signs of a fire. Looks like the cleaned up nicely.

Hi,
For that money you have better choices in that area:
+ Street Lodge soi 1: I think it's 600 Baht per night, close to NEP
+ Business Inn soi 11: 600 Baht per night, decent GF hotel, good securirty, 24 hrs room service too.
Between NEP and SC, close to Thermae
Even Nana and Dynasty hotel are in the 1000 Baht price range and a better choice I think !
