For those of us who just don’t feel like going home after that ridiculous closing hour (and God knows I am one of them) I have been doing some serious empirical research the last couple of weeks. All in the name of science of course.
(Mind you, these little tips are more targeted towards residents then towards visitors, because as a visitor you should be nose deep in some sweet thai pie by 1am.)
In no particular order:
-Last night (after the obligatory CM2) we ended up in a place called Hip Hop café, across from Hollywood on Ratchada Soi 8. Open air place playing (you guessed it) Hip Hop were you can get booze till 5 or 6AM. Pleasant, pure Thai place. People seemed genuinely having fun and very keen on a chat with the few farrangs around. If you want to pick up a girl there, you will have to speak some Thai. (Although the girl that brought me there speaks very good English and refused to speak Thai with me because she wanted to practice her English.)
There is another place down the road playing the more Thai karaoke type-thing. Quite fun if you are totally shit-faced and in the company of some equally shit-faced Thai people.These 2 places must be paying of the cops big-time as they are in plain view and right in front of Hollywood and Dance Fever.
-Not far from CM2 there is a dark, grungy, yet pleasant place that stays open till 6. I can’t remember the name and the people behind the bar were reluctant to provide me with the address, but ask some girls or regulars in CM2 and they will take you there. Hip Hop and Rock music, every beverage is 200baht. 50/50 pro’s and non pro’s if you haven’t scored by then.
-Silom soi 4 is a good bet for some post 2am activity as well. There is this one really dodgy place that reminded me of a smaller version of that opening rave party in the first Blade movie: some guys keeping lookout in front of a metal door. You knock and once inside its pandemonium: Thais and foreigners pissed out of their skulls having trouble standing up. Behind the corner a square shaped bench full of girls. All available of course.
-If all else fails and you speak Thai, tuk tuk drivers are your best bet if you don’t feel like going home. If you don’t speak Thai get a mate or a girl that does, because otherwise those f***ers will rip you off by taking you to some cardboard bar on the other side of Bangkok.
-By far my favorite “after-parties” are the condo-bashes, were you end up at somebody’s condo: pumping music and a myriad on booze and ho’s of all sizes and standards. At every single one of these, decadence is under-stating euphemism for what goes on there behind closed doors. Once you get in the right (or wrong if you will) crowd, there is one almost every day. They usually go on till all available women and joyous substances are processed in a not so orderly fashion.

I am with you on partying after 2am. As you know, prior to 2am you either have to be planning your own party, or be getting invited to one.
Post 2am research needs to be broken down to places you can take girls to after 2am, and places that you can go with your buds to pick up some girls after 2am. Clubs, or bars...not on the street.
Most girls who party a lot, will know the places to go after 2am. I use to love that Soi 19 (Top Floor Above Country Road) after hours bar when it was open. You could butterfly around all night, and take a girl home at 5am when you were ready to go home.
I have not been to any good After hours places lately. One place I have taken girls to after 2am is the Seafood Company across from Hollywood. Not really a club or bar, but at least they have music, beer, food, and women, plus you don't have to go home yet.
I have not been putting much faith in after hours places. The last one on 45 Petchburi Rd (Karaoke place) was quite lame. Lately I have been organizing my own post 2am parties, as you said, they are by far the best and craziest.

There are many of those bar/restaurants on Soi 8 around Holywood. Also Baan Kung Pao on Ratchada opposite side to Soi 8. And a place on Phetburi Soi 43 above a seafood restaurant which is very similar to the one that used to be above Country Road Soi 19.

Its about half way down Soi 4 on the left. Three levels, quite small. Young, up market, mainly Thai crowd.

I followed some Thai girls to "Galaxy" last night full disco with 150 / beer. Open after 2 a clock. It is on the other side of KFC in Patpong. Will see if its there next time I go to Lucifer maybe the boys on brown have closed it down otherwise a new Grace maybe? Lets hope soooo
