Unfortunately I still occasionally stumble across LY's posts and deeply irritating they are...as always...
Yes LY you have got it totally wrong.
My comment about the balcony often being closed meant exactly that. Narcissus is not usually that busy so that they often keep the upstairs bit (the balcony) roped off from everyone.
My comment 'connections connections' refers to the connections of the 'owner' of the club. Narcissus is open to at least 2.00am everynight despite not being in any 'zone' or part of any hotel. It is the only place I can think of in Bangkok that gets this privelege (although some other places seem to stay open until 2.00am on an ad hoc basis).

Hey I was in a mosh pit in July at a concert. The skinney little Thai guys would bounce off of my body and land on their back like cockroaches. It was too funny. The only damage was a couple of smashed toes on the two girls that I was protecting from the mayhem.
Now imagine if you had been at a real metal concert like Slayer, Deicide or Exodus. You may have completely lost those gals.

I was knee deep in the sh!t with Slayer in San Diego years ago, for a minute I didn't think that we were gonna make it out, but my wingman & I pulled ourselves up and kicked the fat phuckers who were crushing us 
Deicide, don't know, but I can imagine that's some ruff sh!t 
Exodus, oh if there was ever a wilder pit at Ricky Rachtman's CatHouse, I never saw it 
tell you what was the most babe infested  pit I ever was in was L7 at The Palace, right near the Capitol Records building in LA (also near the Thai Consulate)
these panzies like Abrak & Sing hi hi would never go near a pit, cause they're panzies 
you and I have got to hang for a while in PTTY at Tim's and TQs, maybe Buffalo too 
What can I say, led a wild life, and if I had it to do all over again, I wouldn't change a thing

Narcissus stays open after 2 on a regular basis and we all agree that the owner must be real connected to avoid troubles.
Back to the original story, u are all right that one should never loose is temper in here. I had myself some problems over the last few years and I still can't really figure out what I did wrong at this time.
Obviously booze does not help and some local guys can't resist confrontation with a Farang if there any occasion to do so.
Bangkok in that sense is much safer than say, Pattaya where you can get trapped in furious troubles after hours.
Easy to say to yourself that you won't get into such situation coz you are too smart but sometimes you don't even know what went wrong.
