pinga, yes just relying on tips makes the girls very flexible. the one i hang out with, forgoes working if there is a nice movie she wants to watch with me.
am not sure karaoke lounge is the apt word to use, as the customers do not sing. actually, i call it the cafe and the girls the singers.
let me check again what is the exact name when i pop by there again.
forgot to mention that the operator of the mirage cafe is not the same as the mp operator. it is rented to operate from mirage.

sorry, i realised i missed seeing the question u asked me...
tips (maybe saying buying the flower is better) start at min 500 and run to 3000 each time. most time, it is 1000 - 2000 bht.
u could give 1000 and next time when she goes n sing again, u could give none and she could sit with you if she likes your company or there are few customers. no hard n fast rules.
economics work here. situations could arise when some other guy also buys the flower for your girl. and if he outpays you, she will as matter of courtesy pop by his table to say thanks n chat for a moment.
having them sit with you does not automatically gives u the right to paw them.. in fact, so far , i do not see much of that happenning.

I think we've mixed together two kinds of entertainment here. I haven't been to Mirage, but I assume it's something like Poseidon. Poseidon has a true karaoke lounge where the girls and customers can sing on stage and in private rooms. At Poseidon they also have a nightclub type bar where there is a band and professional singer (when I was there it was a katoey), but some of the girls would go up and sing or dance between sets.
I couldn't really figure out the deal in the nightclub, the girls me and my friends were with were a little cold. Maybe they were looking for guys who wanted to throw money at them just for looking pretty.
The karaoke girls were a lot more fun and definitely were open to the possibility of being seen outside (but no promises were made about money or sex).

The Mirage Cafe is not a Karaoke Lounge. The Karaoke Lounge used to be on the 3rd floor which has now been converted to a Modeling Lobby where the girls cost 3400 baht and up...an extension of the MP on the 2nd floor.
The cafe is just a hangout where you can pick and choose girls to sit with you. They earn their income from customer tips by singing on stage. Tips are in the form of 100, 200, 500 or 1000 baht which are placed as a flower necklace on stage. This can become quite costly after awhile. Some of the girls do go out but most of them don't. Advice is to talk to the staff management to get more information on each of the girls.

went there last nite again, after a hiatus of 1 year.. some of my regular gals are still there, some have moved on.
as usual, had a blast of a time there.. my fren n me with the help of 4 gals and 2 captains finished 3 bottles of johnny..
left at 1230 am after 4 hours.. less gals compared to 1 year ago but as it is raining season, some of them are just too lazy to turn up for work.

Strictly speaking, the girls on the "lady singer" side of Mirage are not supposed to "go with customer." It is against the rules. Perhaps because that would put them in competition with the massage girls across the hall.
That said, it is possible to bar fine them. You pay about 2500 baht. That is just to the house. I cannot say that I clearly understand the apparent contradiction. It may be that you pay 2500 baht so that the girl has the next day off, and can skip work to stay with you.
The girls there run the gamut. As noted, many are young, and very pretty. I know a few of the girls there. The ones that I got to know can all be rented for 5000 baht. Some will ask more. I think that the massage area across the hall is a better deal, all the way around.
They prefer to go with Asians, as those guys do not balk at spending 10,000 baht for long time.
Some of those girls make a lot of money. They drive cars, a couple of them have Mercedes and condos purchased for them by guys from Taiwan and Singapore, and they live and dress very well. Some have gambling problems, which makes them more amenable to "go with customer."
If in doubt, talk to the captain there. His name is Jackie. He has always been straight with me, and he has guided me around many potential pitfalls. He can particularly help if you want to f*** a particular girl one night, and then take another a different night.
It can end up being a very expensive evening, hanging out there. The girls are sort of like modern courtesans, even geishas. They pour your drink, they feed you, they heap compliments on you, and they tell you that you have "big power," and that you are a "big boss." They look pretty, they smell good, they touch you a little bit, and they smile. They are generally very adept at the social graces, and know how to stage a little party for you, and keep the mood light.
Periodically, when their turn comes, they get up and go sing a Thai country song on stage. As mentioned, you can tell Jackie how much you want to give a girl in the form of a "flower," which is a bunch of baht notes stapled to a lei. I used to let him take it up to the girl. You risk looking like a dipshit if you go up and put it around her neck yourself. This place is about "face," and vanity. It exists to boost your ego, and take your money.
If you want to buy into the illusion that these girls are not "working girls," and want to pay inflated prices for booze, food, and company, then this part of Mirage is for you.
If you just want to get laid, then go across the hall to the massage area. There are a lot of very pretty girls there, sideliners included, and the papa-sans are very professional.
