And to think they were desperately selling memberships "before they go up" in the 2 days before it closed...

Well Orbit is now open in a soft kind of way.
Bumped into one of the dancers after work and she said that it was a lot of fun. Not 100% sure I trust her judgement on this especially at 2.00 am.
And today 'Wah Wah' - PR with reasonably big tits - called and invited me over. She claims our old memberships are still valid. She bullshits a lot though.

I stand corrected boys on all fronts. Apparently it opened softly last night and will open for sure tonight. Apparently they will honor old memberships as they were last night.
I will check it out. I thought most of the PR's at Orbit were a pain in the ass.

So I went there last night with a couple of mates - Orbit has now been renamed Soprano.
We went fairly early thinking that would sample the new Italian restaurant however, it turned out to be so new that the builders wont be out for at least another month.
Soprano is basically everything that it was rumoured to be. The drinking area has been reduced by 40%, the stage by about 20%. The new decor I would describe as cheesy with a touch of Pegasus. The stage now has a large red velvet curtain that opens and closes.
The band is decidedly 'easy listening' - I think their version of 'I will survive' is about as risque as they got. They certainly looked as though they were used to working cruise ships and they were all dressed in a nice line of sparkling dark blue jackets.
There are 24 or so karaoke rooms decked out in the red velvet, gold leaf look and at least 20 of them were empty. And that is the good news.... we know where this club is going - somewhere between a Piano and The Pent - but thankfully it hasnt got there yet.
Soon this place will be full of 50 something Thais and assorted Asians. The cute dancers will leave because they dont want to be drooled over in a karaoke room. The sort of touch that I found depressing was that if you now bring a girl with you to Soprano, she is charged Bt500 corkage.
But as I say it isnt there yet. The place was reasonably busy with what I imagine was ex-Orbit customers. Most of the dancers were old Orbit girls who had been working at the Carribean imbetween. It even had the feel of a sort of high school reunion for them.
So this review is sounding a little depressing but it shouldnt really be. They are honouring memberships. The place is actually better than I thought it was going to be. If you can sit through an easy listening hotel lounge band then it is actually quite fun. Certainly until they get their new customer base in and the dancers start to leave. Not a bad place at all to go for an early drink before moving elsewhere.
Maybe I was in a bad mood. I just didnt like it. I guess what I found a little depressing is that it is no longer Orbit.

Thanks dude for the report. Hopefully I will have a little reunion with a few of the dancers myself this weekend. I will at least drain my membership out of there regardless of how the place is. Just for the principal of the matter.
I liked to use old Orbit as a starting point for other things later in the night, but sometimes you can have the clock go by too fast after too many drinks, and then just say f*** it and stay there. Not a bad thing if you are hooking up with one of the girls afterwards.

Lol.... I felt the same. They were all mingling about what they did over the last few months as you do when you come back from spring break !
One thing I really dont like is the sitting area. You end up getting girl walking on your left, your right, in front of view and in your back. Nice way to get a nexk injury.
The Main difference is that the place is so small today that there is no way for dancers to escape and hop from customer to customer. They actually have to dance and perform which guarantee most of them will leave. You would be surprise how many of them actually like to flirt with customers.
Made me miss the old Orbit even more. The Flirting, the dancing, the kissing.....
