RCA next to Route 66
went to SLIM on tuesday night. wanted to goto BED but friends asked me to check out this place.
Very nice tall ceilings. open deck in the front, huge windows looking at.hip hop. mostly thais. some farangs here and there nice place...
not sure on cost of stuff... didnt pay anything all night. the lighting is not so good just like it is at Ashley's Rumors... but occasionally the lights move over the whole place and you can check out the peeps... best time is right at close.. good time to see whats around... lots of nice ladies, talkin some thai definite bonus points.
plus its open till 2am....
(a friend of mine said that this was the old Orbit space, anyone confirm??)

Slim is a nice place... more of a feel to a european club.... u can bet its always and almost pack on Friday and Saturday nights...

went back to SLIM last night.
good time. packed as hell.
oh yeah word of the wise. the door on the righthandside goes to the part of the bar for rock n roll and the odd thai rock songs. the left door is the hip hop room.
the music was pounding and great. hard to get through, but once you push through you can setup easily in the back or middle of room. bottle of red and mixers and few buckets of ice came to 1600 baht. not too bad all night.
saw some TGs get in a fight. always nice to see a catfight. the bouncers got involved. you should have seen how fast the Thai guys (non-bouncers) cleared away to watch the fight. all I can say is damn.
again like I mentioned before. its best right at closing. b/c its a bit too hard to move. and as in most thai places your stuck where the bottle is. saw a few actors and actresses. I know I saw Irene the past penthouse model turned actress. face is ok, but big titties...

Went over to SLIM last night. Place was packed.
lots of ladies. had stopped over before at mystique and Ashley's Rumors (absolutely dead)
FYI Route 66 is still open.
and they are opening

nyc boy...the reason why the Thai guys cleared away so fast is probably because you never know what's going to happen next. I've seen a white guy got stabbed 4 times six feet away from me in Narcissus. I've seen a bunch of kids hack away at a security guard with a machete. When a place gets so packed like that, things are bound to happen. I'm from NYC too and it's funny that it's safer there than here because drunks there are just full of BS and likes to shove and punch. But over here you never know if "steel" is going to come out to play.

I went to Slim several times over the past few days. It's a cool club. The drinks are cheap, about 1260 baht for Johnny Walker red with 3 soda waters. Johnny Walker swing about 2100 baht with mixers. The place was packed even on a Monday night. You have to get there early or you won't get a seat. I went there at 9:15 and still got sat upstairs.
Right next door and you can walk right through is Flix which will get packed up if Slim gets full.
The nice thing about this place is that this is like a normal club sans dance floor. People just dance at their tables and they play some pretty recent HipHop. Lots of cute girls. Sunday was crowded with a lot of the gals from Carribean on their day off. I still get a kick out of hearing thai's sing along with the hiphop songs...

you know after having gone to SLIM and then FLIX since the openings. I;ve noticed the same peeps there every night. the eye candy is the same. on occasion there are some new faces but alas I think Route 66 East (hip hop) is looking mighty nice right now. Route West also has a nice vibe going on.
trust me definitely check out SLIM and FLIX if you haven;t but I think peeps will move on over.
it appears that within the next 5-6 weeks that another 3 places are opening in RCA. So RCA will be slamming again like it was when I first visited it back in '96
gotta feel bad for thong lo. ashleys booze bombay jam bar brit club etc etc are getting shafted by this. but hell that's the price you pay for not being in the zone....
but ashleys deal for 100 pipers is still the best. 550 baht for 2 bottles... buy them during the week and return on friday or sat...

Slim is the place for you if you are the type of person who likes to be a pinball in a pinball machine. I have been there several times and find myself constantly apologizing for bumping into everybody and everybody bumping into me. It is a nice change of pace from the typical Bangkok scene but one that does not appeal to me.
It is hot right now, but RCA is so dead I do not know what this place will look like in a few months. Granted it is a Thai joint, but the Thai bar crowd are more fickle than any other.
I will not be heading to Slim any time soon, as I said, because of the crowd and actually because I found it a little boring.
Just my opinion.

Your comments about SLIM are correct but then again you would have said the same about Santika, Booze, Bombay Bar etc.. a few months ago.
Mark my words, RCA is the places to hangout this year. some places are too busy, some places are about to open, some places are empty.
The general equation is right though. 2.00am closing, new clubs, plenty of parking. nyc boy is spot on the mark. you should try looking around at some of the other places their Route 6 West, Prop Bar, Ezze, Code, Flix, Downtempo and then if you are still bored you can retire to the comfortable surroundings of Forte.
