another great reopening.
old Song Salung bar in thonglo (Soi directly opposite from Playground) opened to a rather unceremonial party (opened during songkran w/ notices on the wall stating any throwing of water was a 20,000 baht offense)
the layout is pretty much the same but the bathrooms are finally on the first floor (thank god), no more long very tight and hard to walk staircases up. these old staircases have been changed to 2 large spiral?? (unsure on the exact wording here) staircases....
it appears that this is now on the foreign model circuit for free drinks... along with Flix/Tuesday, Bed/Wednesday and Santika/Friday....
cant remember the prices on the bottles... but JW Green was around 2000. nice comfy sofas, and a live band playing with inbetween dj sets of Hip Hop and Thai music
parking is still utter chaos... most likely you will have to cab it or risk your car getting locked by the boys in brown.

ok guys, went to the soft opening last thursday. I must say its a better layout than the old place. Good crowd execpt for the free loaders (models to those who dont know) who basically stayed at their side of the bar.
Though the 2 points I must state are the poor sound system and the climate control in the place. If they really want to give customers a place to lounge and relax, they need to add some more airconditioner units! I think I only saw one unit for the whole place. Where I was sitting, it was an oven!
Venturing upstairs I bit, the sound system doesnt even reach the second floor! yes you can hear the music, but its obvious that your not engulfed by the sound. it seems its only coming from one direction which of course is from the DJ booth. they need to improve in this area quite a bit. one can say that the DJ booth looks quite fitted with the lasted DJ equipment, but they forgot to add the extra amps and speakers to surround the entire club.
Parking is non existing! Unless you own a ferrari, porsche, or any vehicle over 10 million baht in value!
If this place does a few more things to tighten up, it has some promise.

Check out the place tonight, friday night. the crowd did not start coming in until about midnight. It was pretty thin as compare to slim. Not a bad place to hang out on the weekend as it have room to move unlike slim which is packed beyond comfort during the weekends.
Absolute agree with the non-existant parking situation maybe one of reason that this place have much less fewer customer as they will have no place for their customer to park.

Place is now closed.... renovations... last nite was the last... couple of the people working there, said because of the lack of interest, they will revert back to the old Song Salung formula with Live Band and 2-3 floors...
if you have bottles there, they will move them to Escudo down the street (same owners)
I hear that Koi is took over for the Thursday nite Huk bar models nite circuit...

Went to song salung over the weekend, It is packed again, I guess the live band concept does work. I notice there were a lot of g club girl in song salung on their days off. I recognized at least 10-15 dancer/PR in the place.

Came of to HUK. Sat outside. Really nice venue. Lots of trees and lighting etc. Older - higher end crowd. Again lot of attactive women and not the sort who hand out in Sukumvit. REAL THAI PEOPLE!
2 problems though. 1 - Thai Rock Music Again. Real loud even outside. Cant understand why they dont have house music in clubs like this. 2 - Pulling in a place like this is going to be well hard. There are almost 0 Farang andyou better speak really good Thai to even get a look in.

Now the Huk is on the fifth floor above escudo in the duchess plaza. They play hip hop and house music. I think the reason they are not playing house music is because it was not drawing the crowd in that is why they renovated and change the concept again.
