Sub Zero Ice Skate Club
A brand new rink to grace The Big Mango, Sub Zero Ice Skate Club defies the city's relentless heat with a unique ice skating experience that combines a rink with a night club and karaoke in a sub zero environment. Glide and twirl around or take lessons from the pros. Once the sun goes down, Sub Zero Ice Skate Club will transform itself into a swanky club with strobe lights, live DJs, and blades-strapped 'Angel Dancers'. Light snacks and drinks are also served on the 'ice bars' - bars made from real ice. Sub Zero is literally a 'cool' place to just hang out with friends and family even if you lack the much-needed balancing skills. Two sessions are offered daily (11:00 - 17:00 and 17:30 - 01:00).

... I took my 7-year old to a skating party there about a month ago... a normal ice skating rink, as far as I could see.
... nothing about it made me think it was designed to be an entertainment venue... but, I guess the sidewalks up and down lower Sukhumvit were not really designed to be street bars, yet there they are.
... a uniquely 'themed' bar, it might pull customers who are curious, but would have to be a well-run joint to pull them again, and again... same as with the celebrity bars and restaurants that were the rage back in the 90's... Planet Hollywood, and such, many of which augered-in after only a couple of years.
... I could see it bagging the alcohol and going after a teenage crowd, sort of like the roller skating rinks in small town America back in the 50's and 60's... for families and kids by day... and by night, lots flashing lights, loud rock and roll, cherry colas and testosterone slicing in and out of the crowds of teens... and, of course, the dark parking lot where all of the action took place... that seems missing here.
