So, last week I had decided that it's finally time to spend some time on an island. Resisting the lures of overkilled tourist traps (Phuket and Samui), I decided on Koh Chang, as it has the reputation of being quieter, less over run by tourists, and more a destination for Thais, than farang.
Based on prior reports on here, I considered it prudent to pack my own lunch, so decided to barfine a cutie from Baccara that I spent time with previously. Sweet girl, but in retrospect this was the only mistake of the trip.
First, she announces to me after we arrived that she kickstarted her period, and then proceeded to spend most of her time divided up between sleeping, or ordering and eating large quantities of food. Not really surprising for a TG, but it also did kinda of make her presence superfluous. Oh well, I was only there for 3 days, and I am eminently able to entertaining myself.... so, no loss.
After our first day, she suggested that it would be 'okay for you to take lady', so we set out to uncover the 'nightlife' of Koh Chang.
700 meters down the beach was access to downtown 'White Sand Beach', and some quick inquiries with girls buying food that looked the part, we found that another kilometer down the road, next to the second 7-11, would be a complex of bars.
Indeed, and so it was - one might call it an 'enclave' of bars, under a handwritten sign identifying the area as 'Walking Street'. Most of the girls there were a solid 5-6, with a handful of 7 and 8s thrown in. The 7 and 8s were worthwhile to sit with, the 5 to 6s were forgettable.
I ended up chatting up a nice girl that lives close to the cambodian border - one child, bad Thai man that left her, she has to support family, so has to work bar - sound familiar? Yep, the usual.
Barfine was 300 Baht. Lacking short time rooms, one of the other girls suggested using her room (I guess most business is LT in Koh Chang), so we hopped on her moto-cy, and arrived at a shack in a shanty town down the street, in a foresty area. Charming.
I kinda had a feeling that she would feel much more comfortable in a nicer hotel room - so I suggested we go hunting for a nice hotel room, and off we went down the strip again. She nixed several of my suggestions that we passed, "because too expensive" - nice bit of greng jai - and we settled on S.P. Place for 900 Baht (yeah, I know, expensive for a ST hotel - shut up!).
She was very sweet, a good and passionate kisser, a little on the shy side, but eventually very passionate as she warmed up. A couple of hours later we finished up, she was fine with 1000 Baht for 'go with man', and I gave her 2,000 'just because' it felt worth it (no comments about spoiling the market, 'kay?).
Headed back to her bar where my girl was drinking the bar under the table, and we headed back along the beach to our resort.
So, in summary - girls can be found in select places, quality ranges are okay, and they are all good for LT at 1,000 Baht. I might still end up taking my own on my next trip, but hopefully this can be of use to others heading to Koh Chang.
Get there while it's still good - developers seem determined to turn it into the next Phuket, which would be a shame (though I personally feel that they are mostly miscalculating, but the damage would still be done over the next 5 years)

Nope, that's all she did - well, and some shopping.
It's really no big deal, mai bpen rai, just means she won't be going on any trips with me anymore. I offered initially to take her to Hong Kong or Singapore, but when she failed to get her own passport while having had 3 weeks before my arrival, I should have known to just cut my losses.
Still, sweet girl, and loads of fun when in the right environment, though I would not recommend Baccara anymore as a fun destination (at least not to take girls out for multiple days - that's another FR, to follow shortly).

I've had a few beers with Daffy through the years and he's an okay chap (well, some of the time).  What strikes me about this FR is it's the kind of story usually written by a newbie. Someone who has visited Thailand for the first time and learns the ropes the hard way. Not the kind of report a veteran would write about on the forum. I mean the girl was worthless for three days. No BJ's or anything to earn her keep. Of course you can certainly have fun with a girl without that aspect but it seems like DD just emptied out the wallet at the stores and eating establishments. DD, you let me down with this report on Koh Chang. Not the same duck I remember hanging out with in LOS. Maybe take DrLove to Koh Chang with you next time. I don't think he will give it up to you either but at least he's cheaper than a Baccara lady.

Good report Daffy.
Have only been to Koh Chang once and that was a few years ago before I met Mrs Shreddie. Like you, I took company with me (somebody from the old "Wunderbar" on Beach Road in Pattaya - now called "We Are The World" I think).
In fact my lady probably took me as we went at her suggestion. She was a long standing girlfriend at the time (i.e. had seen her three or four holidays back to back) and we had already been to Koh Samet a couple of times on earlier holidays.
Do not recall any strip of bars when I went but that would be in the early to mid 1990s so perhaps there were none then? Then again, Koh Chang is a big island so it could be that I stayed at a different part of the island to you, and your bars were there I just did not know about them.
One memory that sticks in mind from that trip to Koh Chang is an engine fire on the little boat that was taking us to the island. Thought we were all going to have to jump overboard at one point and we were a long way from land. Luckily the captain got it under control and we disembarked at some place on the island that was not our original destination. Never been back.

Triband has an issue with everyone. Apperantly the Duck's story did not titilate him enough being stuck in the USA and a virgin (as admitted under his aviatar) at that.
I think you should have taken Pim, she seemed to be a nice lady when you introduced me to her and far more intersting than this one...
BTW: These girls know when their Menses are imminent. Next time demand full disclosure before offering a trip...

Guilty as charged - and while I don't mind cutting my losses under ordinary conditions, and giving a girl the boot, I simply won't kick a girl out far from Bangkok. Like I said, I found many good ways to entertain myself, and had a good time (as you stated, a BBBJ is not always needed for that). For me, it was all about the island, and the girl secondary.

Triband's got some deep personal issues -- unfortunately for him (as CS pointed out) with everyone, and thus he undermines any credibility all by himself. His main issues are inadequacies, and bitterness.
