Daffy, Wonderful... what else do I need ? Tell me, I am a moderately good swimmer. But never done scuba diving... Is it advisable to begin / learn it there and go for one or two dives ?

Those guys at Bang Bao strike me as having their act together, so they are probably a good place to get started -- I would simply suggest doing some snorkeling first, and maybe get an introductory lesson.
You don't go for 1-2 dives right away, so it depends if you have the time.
I think armed with my prior post, and everyone else's contributions, there's not much else I can think of.

Snorkling to the other 5 islands is the trip everyone books, and the boat out switches every other day, with all those booked going on the same boat that day. The cost is Bt550/bt650 depending the time of year if you drive down, and book from the pier. Bargain the price if they try to quote you higher than bt650, and that includes lunch, water, fins, mask, and pickup from your hotel anywhere on the island.
You can even spend the night over the water in one of the bungaloes for bt350 on the pier.
Watch close as you get to the South end of the island, or you will miss the sign, and turn going to Bang Bao, and the pier.

Hi kool, can you advise,how much it cost for a day rental for a 4 wheel drive with driver, and without driver ? If some one do not hire a car for full day, how do they manage roaming at night, and how do they manage drinks and drive at night?

Like I already said earlier, car rental should cost you between 800 Baht to 1000 Baht a day, depending on what you bargain.
They usually ask for 1000 to 1200 Baht, and I just tell them "...but last time, I pay 800 Baht, same car..." and make a cute face. The guy usually ends up giving it to me for 800, especially if there are other non-rented vehicles still in the street 
I'm assuming you can add 500 Baht if you want to add a driver -- though, honestly, as long as you know how to drive a car, you are much better off driving on your own.

Daffy, Thanks for further input. I have been driving for 25 odd years, so driving is not an issue for me anywhere. Only it matters about how to find the place and road direction. That's all.

Koh Chang should pose no problem, then - there is only one main road. 
You drive it Southward, and you basically follow the signs. Most destinations are well listed. Plus, as you know, looking at a map beforehand gives you good approximate directions and distance.
Lastly, if you have an iPhone, the 'MAPS' app works just fine on Koh Chang, and the GPS will show you where you are - and the 'directions' function works well enough.

Here's an shot of the main road, just after lonely beach. You don't see the worst part, that comes later. Roads between white sands and kai bae aren't as hazardous, however.

Imagine at night, with no street lights. An SUV nearly ran me off the road one night, it was a very close call. You can see how narrow the road is, with no shoulder. I wouldn't suggest drinking and driving.

I have seen there are small apartment coming up for lease/sale in Koh Chang, developer is Avatar. One can buy it for holiday or for rent. Daffy, your expert comment please.
