... I just returned from Nakhon Sri Thammarat last week... while I saw little of the provincial capital, I can tell you it goes real rural real fast as you drive out of town... we stayed about 1-hour outside of the provincial capital, where it was as dark as the inside of a cow right after sunset... no signs of P4P.
... a very interesting aside to the question of whether there is P4P down there, is a lengthy discussion I had over several days with the driver... he firmly stated that the Thais in BKK and the north and northeast do NOT practice the same Buddhism practiced in the south of Thailand... similar to the Muslims in the south, he claimed that the southern Buddhists are far more disciplined and true to the teachings.
... he said that a southern Thai woman who made money in the sex industry would be abandoned by her family and village... he claims that the Buddhist monks in BKK and up north have never taught that prostitution is morally wrong.
... I don't know if that is true, but that would explain why it is so openly admited to by many sex workers without any real sense of guilt... and how so many mothers, fathers and husbands send their children, daughters and wives out to support them by f***ing wretches as us.
... so, Hin... if my driver is right, you might find little to comfort you in the night... and if you don't, this might be a revelation about Thai Buddhism... if you find no P4P in Nakhon Sri Thammarat, we might understand why.
... it would also substantiate my Korean Buddhist buddy's strong assertion that Thai Buddhism has been hijacked by the Thai aristocracy and entitled classes and co-opted to pacify the illiterate masses... hijacked, he states, no differently than radicals have hijacked Islam.
... okay, okay, a little long-winded here... the short answer on P4P in Nakhon Sri Thammarat is:... umm, maybe.

When I was there I stayed at the Taksin Hotel which was a decent place for 500 baht and near the Carrefore. Right when you exit the hotel the street there is lined with massage and karaoke places with women sitting out. There are dozens of these shops in a one block area.
I was also way out in a rural part Tung Yai, that may be misspelled, but there were karaoke out there with the same good looking women. Same in Sichon.

Well,
Have been here recently and as Bob 5 head states there are numerous karaoke and massage shops around the old Carrefour (now Big C Extra). There are some decent ladies to be found in these establishments. But not many.
Have not tried to approach to motocy / taxi drivers yet, but will give it a try.
