The Australian Goverment funded some of that movie ( as the credits show)
It's a very good warning to newbies.
Letting her control money was insane let alone have it all in her name.
The lead character was a weak man.
He made fundamental errors
Quite sad.
But to summarise....
We were showed men who built huge houses whose wife said "she didn't love him."
We saw influences on the main story.
He obviously drank a lot. Was bored.
Held no resources and the change of power coupled with his habitual drinking gave rise to the problem.
His mate spent his danger money 3000 pounds. ( back in the UK)
Clearly, this guy was trusting and silly.
But the story wasn't over.
In the end we saw him drinking with the expats in a Hutt and them saying he will be back.
And then the wife turning up with a fifty kilo rice sack on her bike.
The bad influence girl mint is present ( who in Pattaya triggered the split )
He makes some ""known handshake "" with them before leaving and the wife says ""goodbye for ever "" to further both pain him and see if he is still on the hook....which he appears to be.
After suffering a lonely 50th in some side street in Bangkok he flies.
Chances are to bounce back and send money and go back to her again with fresh funds.
This movie is really quite powerful in show casing the real pulse underneath the surface play.
Good outcomes are possible but not without an iron grip over the Thai.
It's okay to give your money, if you have too much... but certainly not ALL of it. Always have a backup or two. You never know how things will turn out.
He was certainly crazy and stupid to leave his cash with his friend, he could have just left in a bank account which he could have withdrawn using an ATM card.
