Anybody else watching the current BSkyB six part Bangkok based series "Lady Boys" might also wonder at the views expressed by the various characters involved in the program including two clearly delusional Englishmen, one of whom proposed marriage to his ex prostitute Lady Boy partner!
As a regular visitor to Thailand over the last 20 years I know only too well how the freewheeling lifestyle enter the blood stream rendering one a complete and compulsive addict but in their cases surely a common sense limit has been breached.
Thoughts anyone?

Been watching it v closely in UK. I find the older of the two guys, who keeps claiming that ladyboys are more beautiful than ladies and that nearly every man who comes to LOS is looking for LB, extremely delusional. I did enjoy watching them film in Thong Lo though, makes a difference from the usual Cowboy backdrop.
As for the younger guy, his LB isn't even that attractive, she looks like a man.... I think something is not right here, and that by him going to open yet another bar in Pattaya, it can sadly only end in one way.
We all know there are LB's in BKK and Pattaya, but the program gives the uneducated viewer the impression that they are everywhere, on every street and corner and that there are 1000's of sex starved farang freaks looking for them....

1000's of farangs... could be correct. Just watch the number of guys leaving Casanova each hour. And then let's not forget the Japanese.
And thinking about the fact that there are at least 4 LB bars in Nana alone who do brisk business 24/7.
And while in Pattaya, I sometimes have the idea that there more LBs than girls.

Interesting to note the reason the elder of the two Englishmen - Dave, an ex university lecturer (hmm) found himself in Bangkok was to research ladyboys for a book he was about to write - if you believe this you'll believe anything!
If it was me about to marry a ladyboy I would worry what she and all that corrective surgery might look like when she turns 60... best take a look at the mother, oh - perhaps not!

Of course, it's worth remembering that as TV features go, it's the various reporters' and editors' call on what to highlight or play up. Thus, to lend meat to the story (ha ha), a stray "delusional" viewpoint could well be accorded importance and be positioned up front so as to justify, as it were, the rationale for the feature itself. Be that as it may, it is certainly true that many LBs do look more stunning than girls, behave more feminine than the girls and are well trained in the art of theatrical seduction. They are also accomplished conversationalists and I once spent an entire evening drinking and chatting one up in one of the NEP bars just for the fun of it.
A massage administered by a LB is another of those exhilarating experiences not to be missed. When I look back on my romps in LOS those furtive LB adventures stand out as eyeopeners to the infiniteness of the Sexual Universe.
