I am visiting Thailand this March for the first time; of course after reading all these postings it seems I could go ten times and still be a newbie.
Starting out in Bangkok 1st four days, Pattaya 8 days, Patong 8 days then finishing up again in Bangkok for 3 days. I'm having a midlife crisis and I'm going to enjoy it! but as I said I need some valuable insights please!
Bangkok- Royal Asia Lodge (will start and finish here, no pun was intended, but itís good), good web price, guest friendly, rooms seem nice.
While in Bangkok looking for a trying all massages especially soapy and recommendations for LT in this area.
Pattaya- Pattaya Centre Hotel, good web price, guest friendly, in the middle of it all, what are the best ways to get there, seems like a bus out of Suk area would be best?
Patong- I am having problems with this one, flight from Bangkok, no problem. Where to stay big problem, not seeing to many posting on moderate guest friendly locations, websites are not stating anything as clearly as for Bangkok and Pattaya. Looking for something in right by the Patong beach, really need help with this one please.
Of course don't get me wrong I know I'll get some of the great sites, sounds and culture on this first trip to SEA.
I will gladly take insights from all!!

By the time you complete the tour, you should have at least gotten a few notches of experience in Thailand. If you have not tried out the bath massages, do give it a try, and make sure you get two girls. Darling at Soi 12 seems to be the best value at 4,000B.

Nokna, thanks for the websites, great info, still undecided but going in the right direction, between your personal recommendation and the website's the list is growing.
bkkz, no I have not but from your recommendation and their website that will be a great pre-birthday experience.
Thought I had the travel between pattaya and phuket under control, but I still would like to find out about any direct flight from pattaya to phuket, know of any flights or regional airlines that go direct. I checked with Thai A and Bangkok A and they all go out of BKK from what I see on the web.
Food is my thing, I have been in the business for to many years now, any recommendations for great regional food, I mean if its local and itís great it doesn't matter if itís served on a paper plate (sorry).
Also, if I can buy you a two a beer or 10 or you need anything that's hard to come by that I can bring you from NYC it would be my pleasure, just tell me what, where and when. The little things in life mean so much and I do appreciate all and any info!

glad to be of any help to anyone.
food in phuket is good,as i imagine it is all LOS.
in phuket many places where you can buy thai food and is cheap,i prefer these places.
best to go with a lady,these places often often speak no english and just have menu's with just pictures,but you will get the idea of dishes.
a meal for 2 with drinks can cost as little as £3($?),good value.
in thailand you can get all the food you are used to in NYC,but why eat mcdonalds or burger king when you can get really good thai food?.
one word of warning though,thai's like their food hot,lots of chilli and every dish comes with liquid chilli as well which they pour on the food.
if you do not want this then tell them "no prik" (you won't get the girls saying that!!!) which means no chilli.

BK /All,
Help on a technical question please.
I have read the rules, used the search engine, am unable to use messenger and cannot start a new thread, so am reviving this old thread, with an apt title, in the hope that some of you more computer literate guys can answer the question.
Last week my PC got infected with spyware that bypassed all anti virus and anti spyware on it. This has now been resolved but since then I cannot use the messenger facility on bkk tonite at all. All other functions on the forum work okay, but messenger just lights up yellow as usual but no page will open.
I have not knowingly changed any settings.
Whatever has happened has also affected Hotmail and Yahoo on the computer.
I can open up Hotmail and read messages and type text to reply, but then cannot send anything. The same goes for moving messages between folders, I can highlight them, but they will not transfer.
I am assuming that this is caused by the same problem. Has some setting that would allow messenger on the forum been disabled at all? I have checked all that I know on the computer but cannot identify the problem.
Any advice from any member would be much appreciated. I am a long time BTF member, just don't post alot, so know that there are some very IT literate guys on the forum.
I might be a bomb doctor but am not too good with computers.

BombSquad,, I work with computers but mainly Industrial,, so I have only mid-range knowledge here. Firstly I would down-load 2 free programmes,, Ad-aware
and AVG free edition, run both and then see what happens, they are both very good programmes and FREE.
In the mean time, I would NOT be using your PC for internet banking or anything that requires you to input your personal details ESPEC~IALLY your credit card numbers etc.
There are others on this forum with far more knowledge than me,, but yopu can help them by letting them know, are you running Windows XP ??? and what was the last thing you remember doing ( or what site you entered) before the problem began.
If your reunning XP,, have you tried the "system restore" option,, go back a month or so.

The restore option may not work as it does not change the data that is stored. Most spyware programs hide themselves as data and they also make sure that they are not part of the system restore process.
There are a lot of spyware programs floating around on the net. Most of the free spyware programs cannot do anything. Even AVG cannot remove most of the spyware.
These programs exploit the Internet Explorer vulnerabilities. Therefore, as a first step, do not use IE. Switch to Firefox or Opera: they are more secure. Make sure that you have the latest security updates from Microsoft installed and running.
Worst case scenario: save your data on an external hard disk and reformat your disk. Restore all your programs and then update your data from the backup disk.
