Dear 69er, I think you should stay close to the intersection Asoke - Sukhumvit, then you are close to the subway and the skyway. One suggestion is the Continent Hotel that is close to the subway and at the same price level as the Swisstel, then go by subway to Huai Khwang ( 4 stations) and you are opposite Swisstel.

The Continent is very conveniently located. It's on Sukhumvit Road, just around the corner from Asoke Road. There's a nice rooftop bar, Spin / Axis. It's very quiet, a good place to bring your TG for a few drinks while enjoying the view of the Bangkok skyline.
