Quote: from vox on 7:01 am on Nov. 28, 2012 I've never heard of anyone being asked to show evidence of onward travel when arriving in Thailand by Thai immigration.
I was when Thai immigration asked me when I was leaving Thailand and I told them the final departure date of a 2 month trip. Luckily I pre booked some cheap AirAsia tickets to Cambodia and showed those tickets.

Be careful when travelling on Japan Airlines. Their agents will always demand return ticket if you are planning to enter the kingdom without a visa. But I have never had any trouble on British, Cathy, or Thai Airlines.

You could have gotten real tourist visas to avoid the worry, or you could have bought a round trip ticket. Most don't know that the return date on a round trip ticket can be changed to a date up to one year from the actual date for only about $125US. The return date can be postponed, and a new date does not have to be given at the time. The ticket is still valid for one year. Not sure why you don't get a tourist visa, unless you don't want to spend the money. It only takes 2 weeks to get one. Without a return ticket most airlines will not let you board the plane to begin your trip.
