thanks for the tips mate! I think Im gonna be sh**ting myself the first day or two as Im travelling by myself, hopefully I might be able to meet up with a few of the guys of the forums for beers and saftey in numbers! =)
How many of the BG's in BKK speak decent english, as my thai is well..................... non existent!
also what is a good bar to start off for first night? Im getting the picture from other posters that maybe patong isn't the place to start more scamming etc, is that right? what bars should I check out first to ease myself into it!?

Dr Love tours highly recommended even if you do know the difference between Patong and Patpong.
You could run into the problem of "klai" meaning near and "klai" meaning far,,, that one got me more than a few times,,,LOL, the micro second difference in length of sounds changes the meaning 180.
Anyway I digress, Dr Love will help you in many many ways,,inclusive of how to handle Buffalo stories,, hard nut bar girls that want 10,000 BHT short time, drink pricing scams etc etc etc,,, all round a great investment.

Most times I find the inter-bargirl-code works this out for me, being a handsum Norwegian and all. Most of the times the girl who comes and sits next to me uninvited is the hottest piece in the bar.
