Yes, I came to Thailand to head on down to Pattaya.
It took me 10 years to get out of Bangkok for the first time only because it's all here for you.
Maybe I'll go to Pattaya again, but it may take another 10 years for me to reach that point.
There is so much to experience here in Bangkok and I haven't even seen one temple yet.
I'm sure the same goes for guys who go straight to Pattaya and never want to leave it. I can understand that.
But if I was 21 and not sure if I would have the opportunity to come again in the near future, I'd try to sample both places in the first week to decide which one I'd want to concentrate on for the second.

I can only reiterate what the other guys have been saying but I would advise you to spend a few days in Pattaya as well.
As far as spending time on a beach, my guess is you have seen all the sand you want to see in the forseeable future. I run a navy program in Saudi so can fully understand why you need to get out. I don't have to sleep on the floor, except when my Thai wife boots my ass out of the bed, but I know what you're going through. Been there, done that...as have many on the forum.
I think one of the smartest pieces of advice given you is from BKKdreaming. He advises you to pay each and every girl regardless what she tells you. Slip something into her purse if necessary but get some coin of the realm to her. These girls still gotta live and it will come back tenfold to you if you don't try to cheap charlie them. Don't go crazy either. Just use good common sense.
Pay attention to our more esteemed members and you won't go far wrong. Try to meet some members and, personal feelings aside, a DrLove tour would probably be a good thing for you to do. Just don't tell him you know me. LOL
The only advice I can offer is this...Don't fall in love with the first girl that gives you a blow job.
Have a great time and, if you get to Saudi in the next couple of months, PM me and I'll treat you to some homemade Thai food. My wife and daughter are great cooks.

And amidst it all, soldier, a word of caution born from sheer experience of most guys here, including myself, aged twice to thrice as yourself :- Be careful not to fall overly in love with either Thai girls or Thailand. Easier said than done. We all have jobs to get back to and the first trip to LOS is invariably a trapdream that we all fall into and find it very very difficult to come out of. Good Luck and keep your head.

Wow, a friendly thread!
A lot of great advices here.
- President Solitaire. Good choice. Great location (a little bit away from the noisy Suk, great beds, great pool, good restaurants in the area)
- On my first 14 day trip to Bangkok (2004) I hooked up with some forum members that made all the difference (having people showing you around). So make sure you get BK to put you dates up on the schedule (post in the Member meeting members topic)
- I would try to slip in some days in Pattaya. But, I would not plan to hard, you will be back. I'm sure.
