hello,
have looked at many newbie posts (and there are many many) / rules for posting and dunno how to get my information other than asking here. naive questions but this is the newbie place. not trying to hijack this thread but it IS titled newbie questions so dunno what else to do...........
my questions are more about the "rules" than the "best place" (most of the newbie posts I read are about this).

1. if you are in a go go bar and speak to a girl and then decide you want to go home with her...how realistic is it to just chat for ten minutesand then make the move? is she more interested in mingling and getting as many drinks bought for her as possible? also, what do you say...strange question perhaps, but what is the "ettiquette", for example, "so would you like to come back to my hotel?"
2. soap massage - is full service on offer or not? case by case? I read a post saying, "who is the girl at poseidon who offers FS?". so, again is it place by place?
also, do you clarify the price with the papa/mamasan when you are choosing the girl? (there are some posts in forum describing outrage at prices qouted, like it came as a shock).
3. at oil massage places I understand it is a kind of private arrangement between you and the girl, right?
4. is kissing ok?
5. what happens with tips? polite and expected with go go, soap place and oil place? or is it generally considered included (for example in the private arrangement between you and girl at oil place) ?

1. If they are in a hurry to go with you, they will also be in a hurry to leave. Give yourself more time to create a rapport with the girls first, buy them a drink or two, but don't get them too drunk, it's no point having a dead wood next to you in bed. 
2. Of course you get full service in a soapy massage. One round at least. Two rounds if you offer extra tip (some times). Three rounds, possible too.
3. Yes. Normally showering together is a good way to indicate your intentions.
4. Absolutely!
5. With go-go bar girls, the extra tip would be for the taxi fare. Soapy, 300-500 B for the extra round that you had. Sometimes, 1000B, if you are feeling generous.

1. I guess my point is that if you buy them a drink or two are they yours for the asking or are you going to turn around and find them gone suddenly (off in search of more lady drinks) ?

To help you with your first question. Buy them drinks, they aren't going anywhere.....till you quit buying them drinks.
If you think you have made your choice, then simply say "how much barfine?" "yes, I pay", it's that easy.

An oil massage usually costs about 800 baht for 2 hours paid to the establishment. If you want more than a massage, a tip is required for "specials." They will usually ask if you want the special about half way through the massage, or you can tell them up front. The prices are negotiable, but the normal tip rates are as follows:
- HJ 500 baht
- BJ 1000 baht
- FS 1500 baht
For a soapy massage, FS is include in the price, but the price is about 2500 baht paid to the establishment. Sideliners and models will cost more. The TG gets about half of that, and will expect a tip of 500 baht.

Some TG's will kiss you or even French kiss, and others will not. If you are a repeat customer, the chances are better. Chances are also better if you are clean and use good oral and dental hygiene. But there will always be some TG’s who will not kiss any customer.

Some BGs will kiss, some will not. Some will not kiss in their bar, but will kiss in the room. A few will kiss in the bar but be cold in the room. Ask them if they are a good kisser...

If you buy her a drink, but then it is her turn to dance, she will go dance. When she finishes dancing, she will often return to you.
However, be aware of 'biffing'. This is when a guy (usually me) will see a cute girl sitting with a customer (you?), and that customer has not barfined her. It is her turn to dance and the customer does not pay a barfine, he just lets her go dance in anticipation of her coming back to sit with him when she is finished dancing. That girl is now officially 'available" and someone can pay her barfine and there is nothing you can do about it.
I've been 'biffed' once and I have done the 'biffing' a half-dozen times. (It is how I met NanaHottie and also my regular Dew, if I would have waited for them to finish drinking with the customer, I would still be waiting!) It is very fun to watch the look on the guys face when the girl goes over and says that someone else paid bar - if the guy is a newbie and possessive, watching this is worth the price of the barfine!

Did not know it was called "biffing".
I did it once and it was quite strange as the young man came over to where I was and became quite rude........
In French
=> funny thing is that I am a native french speaker.
So was able to tell it to f*** off.......
Indeed It could have turned quite bad.
By the way I am asking myself if I CG "biffed" me or not one year ago.

We tried something that could be called 'double-biffing' at one time. You scored with Dew - mine was not all up for LT. Well, you got a good one. Good for you.
