Speaking from experience- three laser beard removal treatments -I'd guess the wax will be much more painful than laser would be.
Waxing rips hair out by the follicle. Ouch! And it's only temporary anyway. A better temporary approach would be to just shave it off.
Ever since we ran that shaved scrotum thread I've been shaving from there on up to the neckline with good success and no pain.

I experienced both - lasering is a walk in the park compared to waxing large areas of hair. Lasering, on average, feels like a small rubber band being snapped - waxing feels like your very flesh being torn out. Pick your pleasure.

Except that area right under the chin is a doozie, isn't it?
Well worth it, though - no more shaving, yeah, and no more 5 o'clock shadows... (except a couple of white hairs that I'm gonna get electrolysed away soon as well.)
