Need to try out Pattaya, didnt see a newbie questions section for Pattaya so I figured I would try here.
Where are the must go places? Are the beaches as beautiful as people say?
Any information is appreciated!

There are many Pattaya experts here that can advise on the"must go" places but am sure most will agree the actual beach in Pattaya is probably not what you imagine........
Obviously, you can rent a beach chair, people watch, have some beers, get some sun etc....but the sand, water and swimming part is not ideal. However, thats not really the main attraction of Pattaya..
Pattaya has an atmosphere/vibe all its own that everyone should experience.....and I have a feeling you will dig it very much (2-3 days will be perfect.)
IMO, if a relaxing scenic beach, with clear, aqua blue, warm, swimming friendly water, drinks with little umbrella's lol and chill background music always coming from somewhere is what you have in mind, be sure to check out one of the islands on your next trip.....

Hey Scruffy, the beach isn't worth much more than a stroll from end to end, get a hotel w/pool, many girls will want to join you there
2 must go places, Angelwitch, (blows the BKK version away) and What's Up, both along Walking Street, Soi 15
The Army must pay well now, at least I hope so, enjoying your reports, come across like a seasoned pro

The beaches around Pattaya are not really worth writing home about - and I'm being kind. Better worth taking a day trip southwards, or renting a speedboat to take you to one of the surrounding little islands (bring some snorkeling gear, and preferably a hot girl along with you)

the army DOESNT pay that well, but ive been saving for a very long time for this trip  and so far I have not been dissapointed... hopefully Pattaya will be just as good if not better than bangkok from what ive heard about the prices and the nightlife scene!

Pattaya Beaches: I do not agree AT ALL with ATL statement on "Clear and Swimming Friendly Water" in Pattaya...
The water is very dirty, full of junks and bacteria. My advice: Avoid to swim at all beaches - Central of course but Jomtien as well.
If you want to swim, go with your GF at Sattahip or take a boat to some islands; but not the nearest ones. At least 30-45 minutes away from the coast.
May be some other members can also share their opinions on Pattaya water...
So just relax on the beach, have a nice massage and keep an eye on your belongings.
Plenty of bars and gogo on Walking Street. See separate board with Pattaya discussions.
My personal fav at the moment is ANGEL WITCH Pattaya with great shows and real nice selection...
Other places often mentioned: Peppermint, Superbaby and Supergirl. Some nice looking girls but mostly I do not like the attitude.
For freelancers, go to Lucifer or Tony Disco on Walking Street from 11/12pm. I prefer Tony setting but this place is a complete rip-off as they charge THB 500 for 2 drinks (THB 350 for the same drinks in Lucifer) + very pushy staff.

I dont think you read my post completly.....if you re-read it I am sure you will see that you didnt get what I was saying.....my statement regarding the beach & water in Pattaya.

was what I said (and that was being nice lol)...and then added:

Ok noted. But considering how hazardous it can be to swim in Pattaya waters, the term "not ideal" does not really seem appropriate. ALL Pattaya beaches would be banned for swimming with any reliable test of water.
My advice to Scruffy for swimming is very explicit:
DO NOT SWIM in Pattaya water

Walking Street and Soi 6, unless you spent a very very long time at the both you couldn't see every single bar even if you went to a few every night of your whole trip if you ended with a BF.
