so back in the LOS january if the airport is open? after my usual BKK blast I will be shattered so going to visit old buddy in Kon Kan. never been before I am sure he always flys to and from bkk. anyone ever done this suggestions is there anything worth seeing or experiencing on the way or in Kon Kan it self.
so ways to travel to KK, with anything to do on way or close by to KK?

I suppose you could catch an interrnal flight from Bangkok to Khon Kaen (?) and spend the time alternately perving at the air-hostesses and looking through the gaps between the floor-boards.
You might find it more enjoyable if you hired a car and driver, two ladies and bought a large light bed-sheetfor the back-seat.
But then, this is discounting the possibility that you may have interests in aerial photography through thick cloud-cover, high-altitude flying survivors of the bird-flu virus or have a highhly attuned ear for mechanical defects in the drone of propellor-driven aircraft engines.
I'd still hire the two ladies for the flight and buy a large light bed-sheet. Modesty during air-travel is becoming.
Above all, enjoy the journey.

take a thai airways flight from don muang.... they have about 3 or 4 flights a day, only a 50 minute flight... look on the thai airways website. Then you can take a taxi to downtown, stay at the Soffitel (now the Khon Kaen Pullman).... quite a nice hotel.... all the action there is around that area......google khon kaen and you will get some night life info, there is some on this board also, all you have to do is look.....

You can stay either in Sofitel or Kosa hotel next to that. Its a nice hotel too. In Kosa hotel, if you take the side door (next to karoke room), a MP is available. night life is very limited. There is an entertainment complex called Rad's which has a go go bar and a discotheque.

Yep, Rad's got a go go bar with some girls dancing in the cages. Must go there early before 9pm. Lots of local (Thai) guys there and its difficult to talk to the girls due to language problem. seen some good ones during my last visit in Aug 08.
