Hello All;
I am still reading the site and have been checking for the last few days. But, once you upgrade, you're supposed to post within 24 hours, so here's my first post, and I will then continue reading before flooding the site with questions already answered.
I am a deaf American, 38 years old, ugly and fat, and about as successful with women as a banana slug with B.O would be... I haven't had any sexual interaction in 11 years. I often joke I have FOUND my virginity. Sigh... So, obviously, I am coming to Bangkok desperate and with a fist full of dollars. Grin.
I actually speak and lip read English rather well, but lip-reading English from non-native speakers is VERY hard, no offense intended to those who speak multiple languages. My question is, is my deafness, terrible conversation skills, and the fact that I don't drink alcohol at all, dictate where I should go/do? Is an Oily Massage Parlor the only place I will be able to succeed, or is the other options (the 50 different scenes, as it seems) as available to be successful?
I will keep my other questions for later posts after having read the old posts. But I hope to see response to the above question, as it is really nicking the back of my mind as I plan this trip. Thank you.

P.S. As the name suggests, I love real massages. Is there a catagory somewhere in this site for Traditional Thai Massages? I haven't found it yet, so pointers to it would be nice as well. Thanks.

Don't count out freelancers...over the years I've run into a number of deaf freelancers around Sukhumvit. I only mention this because you would find it easier to communicate with them since they know Thai sign language...not the same as ASL or whatever it is you speak, of course, but there enough similarities apparently for decent communication to take place, as I have seen deaf farangs bargaining with vendors on Sukhumvit between sois 5 and 7 in sign language more than once (there is a HUGE deaf contingent among those vendors).
As for Traditional Thai Massage, I recommend a place called Wat Po massage, it's down Sukhumvit Soi 33 waaay down (still not even a kilometer) the soi, on the right, past all the "artist bars" and "Teen" oily massage shops. It's 300 for two hours, and quite good. Granted, there are cheaper TTM massages to be had in more out-of-the-way (for the first-time visitor) places, but 300 is nothing to sneeze at, well below the usual "farang price". Absolutely no hanky-panky there, btw, and when you see the women who work there, you wouldn't want it, either, haha.

I would because of your disability perhasp find a girl who shares that aspect-
Thailand will yeild you a partner who is both attractive - young and sexy- and deaf-
In Pattaya some deaf woman collect money in the seafood resturants -
I have dated a couple-
but I would suggest you locate an organisation and then go from there-
You dont have to spend your life alone-
Just take matters slowly-
Dont part with your hard earned easily-
keep maybe the sexual side serviced by pretty working girls -
Then evolve a regular relationship with a girl suited -

Welcome my friend. You will get plenty of good advice here. One thing for sure, Thai women really don't say no very often.
On a sid enote, I was with a friend of a friend in Nana a few years back and the guy was really overwiehgt... the girls were all over him. I say good for him.
Personally, I think the girls are more turned off by what they consider rude behavior.... just be nice, smile a lot and eat some Cialis or something.....

Dirty Guru, for some reason your message wouldn't show on the thread board. It wasn't until I started this reply that I was able to see your message. Glad I didn't miss it, that is some interesting thoughts you have there. I should think about this... If I could find a deaf Thai gal with good written English, maybe I COULD find a Thai Girlfriend. Grin. I will look into that.
Thailife, thank you. I don't actually NEED Cialis, I have no erection dysfunctionism. I'm more social dysfunctional, that's the reason I haven't had sex... Or hugs. You actually have to talk to girls before they let you hug them or screw them... At least, in the U.S. 8^) But I appreciate the comment about your overweight friend having no problem.
Okay, off to a good start here. Will post a new thread with a couple of questions that I think needs to be decided on long before I head to Thailand. See ya.

Welcome aboard !! First let me tell you in all humility that you seem to be a terrific guy blessed with self deprecation and a great sense of humor. As in all other situations in life these two singularly valuable traits will set you sailing happily throughout Thailand. Let me tell you that one thing these Thais (men and women) like and warm up to is humour. Smile and, as the worthy said, the rest of the world smiles right back.
Does not matter what your hearing level is : anyone who does not speak Thai in Thailand will not notice any especial advantages in being blessed with a greater sense of hearing than another. Amateur sign language, as any foreigner in any part of the world would use, is good enough to get you what you want at the shopping malls, restaurants, pubs, clubs and of course the massage shops. For slightly more complex situations you could do well to carry around a small scribblepad and pen. Simple English words could be written down for others to read. If the person for any reason does not understand the word she / he / she would show it to a friend or someone nearby to help translate or understand. (Why did I repeat 'she' twice there ? It's a nice mystery of Thailand I hope you will enjoy unravelling !!).

I know some hot deaf GoGo girls in Pattaya. I can recommend Nickky at Living Dolls Showcase (i.e. Living Dolls 2) on Walking Street, and another at The Office on Soi LK Metro. I'm sure you'll have a great time.
