That is BS. The US government is not "ignoring" Chinese bootleg software. What do you expect them to do? Start WWIII?
With regards to Taiwan, their peaceful integration into the PRC, if it were done gradually over time, would server US and Western interests. The Chinese need another good dose of pure capitalism (their first was Hong Kong) to push them closer to democracy. Does any call the British hypocrites because they gave up Hong Kong?
Sounds to me like some want to blame the US government for everything, especially if it is harder for them to buy counterfeit software in Thailand.

First: Harry--sorry, I thought you were having a go at me. I've mentioned the US before and some people seem to have an irrational hair-trigger. You're right, the US appears to be bullying Thailand and dancing around on tippy-toes with China (WRT pirate s/w and films, anyway).
Second: Mr Alan. Sorry, don't understand that at all. We had a 97 year lease on HK. It expired, we handed the keys back to the owner. Like renting a flat (or apartment, or condo). Why would/should anyone call us hypocrites (or not) for doing that? (Of course, if you're referring to that bitch/anti-christ Thatcher taking their UK passports away from them, then I agree with you 100 per cent. It was wrong and shameful.)
DELETED -- Loads of stuff about the US government, MS, SCO, GPL and the FSF. Just not worth the hassle...

A 97 year lease? Is that what you call British Colonialism? When does the lease expire on Northern Ireland? I am sure that the Irish would really like to know.
Exactly how much does Britain pay per month for these leases? Did they have to put up a security deposit?
If the "lease" on the American Colonies was going to expire someday, I don't think that Patrick Henry would have said, "Give me liberty or give me death."

I had heard that Pantip Plaza was the best place to go to buy anything connected to the Computer Industry. Is this true, or are there better places to buy it?

Seri Center [out of town in Srinakarin]
Seacon Square [same as above, but nearer Rama 9]
I would suggest she check for an Atec dealer at Fortune 1st
many prefer Fortune these days, it's spacious, Pantip is cramped
and Pantip is NOT near a BTS or MRT station

1. I would make sure that the warranty is honored where you live.
2. Your GF might have to pay import duties if she brings it to your home country without taking it home. Of course, she could claim that it is her personal property and will take it home with her.
