My guess is that you cannot get any of that sucking at home, which is why you will come back to LOS.

Ok this offshore and onshore price of Baht got me a little confused. If I have US dollar bills ($100 bills) and cash them inside Thailand, how much I will get for one hundred dollar? In the same token, inside Thailand if I use an ATM card that draws money from a US bank, how much I get for one hundred US dollar? Are they the same?

COnsidering her priorities are closer and more realistic to her heart, it makes sense. We tend to analize such situations, and declare it 'good' based on a possible future we see 5 years down the road; she may be more concerned about the 'here and now'. Not always clear what the 'better' perspective is.

Onera, The ATM might give you the same exchange (or not) but most US banks will also ding you with a foreign withdrawl surcharge (typically 3% - same thing with credit cards (the bastards) ) - you're better off exchanging cash in LOS...

I made a withdrawal on my Wells Fargo debit card, 10,000 B changes at $279.72 (35.75 B : 1 US$), plus a $5.00 ATM fee, that's all. So, the total cost for 10,000 B is $284.72

what onera is reffering too is that due to the 30% stuff is that there is currently a two exchange rates for the thai baht one offshore (outside thailand) rate which is what you will see when you click on xe.com or other similar sites and the onshore (inside thailand) rate which I believe is still up around 36.

BL, are you sure it's that high in Thailand?? checked xe.com and oanda and it's dirt low... euro around 43...even worse it seems within HSBC accounts in HKG...and it was 47 only a month ago after the new currency regulations... can anyone tell me how much we get today from money changer like Superrich or Hoover in BKK, for GBP, US$, and Euro ? such low rates are very bad for exports from thailand...
