don5252,I am also a great supporter of the USA foreign policy ( as in get them terrorists), maybe rather than pulling out, the USA should get other countries, especially the Europeans, to take a greater share of the financial burden.

Cheers
Mel.

Add to the formula, recent and planned decreases in interest rates in order to stimulate a slowing economy and we have a situation rife for the Thai Baht to weaken, substantially.
One can only hope - though in the meantime, I'm just dumping my surplus into Euro bank accounts to protect my money from further devaluation. Seems like the Euro is losing far less value (to put it mildly) than the dollar is, or will.

Well,,,, Alan Geeenspan has said that there’s a 30 % chance that a US a recession could occur by the end 2007.. Other economists say that there’s a high probability of US recession in year 2008. A US recession = lower US interest rates + a weaker US $.
Hence, why the above. No interest in keeping my money in the US banks, and watching it lose value.

Personally think that the Chinese Yuan and the Indian Rupee are the most promising currencies - can't invest in either.
I feel that the Euro is simply a good, safe middle ground -- i.e. unlikely that some political upheaval will screw me over, seeing as how I have a european passport. In China, while there may be short term gains, who knows when they decide on some idiotic path towards devaluing the money, or screwing foreign bank accounts over...

Why can't you invest in either? Can you not just open a bank account in China, and transfer moneys into it?

Speaking as a european I aint paying didley shit, Mr cowboy toss head bush should never have gone to Irak period. Just make a big wide area to nuke and problem solved, cheaper as well just make sure to get all the usual useless shit hole countrys in range. After a few decades it could be rebuilt for human beings to live in.

Well, maybe, maybe not, depends on the prevailing winds

Fifth line in reads 92% American troops!!!
Thanks for your support,, I assume you must be an angry Englishman forced to live in Australia,,, LOL.

I admit the nuking idea is excellent and definately the path I would have chosen. But I'd specify using Neutron bombs,, smaller more tactical weapons that basically leave infra-structure in place but kill the enemy ( can't blow up them oil fields or the nearby Israelies).

Cheers

To the best of my knowledge, China has the greatest amount of foreign exchange reserves of any country in the world, they are highly unlikely to mess up things in any way prior to the Beijing Olympics.
Oh, by all means - China is desperately holding everything together, balls out, to make sure to save face, and impress everyone up to and during, the Olympics in 2008.

Whatever might happen would happen pretty much after that - just like normal, right after they feel the eyes of the World are no longer on it, the whole ball of 'impress the world' will be dropped.

.... not that there won't be enough mini fiascos happening during that time, though, IMO.

Anyway ; the Euro seems a relatively safe, though unspectacular, bet for now.
safe and unspectacular is what I'm looking for if my money is just going to sit in an account more or less unattended.

mate, you should really cut down on hard alcohol intake, it doesn't do you any good. Told you so many times. You see what he does to you now? you can't even read / analyse information.

The war in Iraq was and still is an American led war, not that I disagree with that, in fact my position is nearer to yours in terms how to deal with terrorists. But the matter of the fact is that America initiated and led this war all the way through. Let's face they're the only country in the world able to do it, in military, technological, political terms and having the money to finance it all.

The Europeans reluctantly followed the Americans but they did contribute to the war both in military assets and economic terms. See this website, it gives you breakdown of coalition members and how each one of them contributed to the war and the fatalities they suffered. Yes I agree that we Europeans should have done more to support America, no doubt about that, I feel we should have been a lot more supportive and a lot less critical. But this criticism coming from that inconsequential country of yours is just laughable.

btw, if you still can't extrapolate info, I'll quickly whip up an excel file for your benefit. Joking (not)
