I assume yopu mean $US,, and I also assume you mean a US gallon,, why does America want to keep us all assuming??????
Ok as I must assume,, fuk,, =$US 4 per gallon,,, ooops let me google I only know NORMAL gallons,,, ok 3.8 litres,, the NORMAL peoples measurement,, so just over $1 US per litre,, CHEAP.
We dream of such prices. We pay AUD 1.61 per litre,,, Fuk converting it for the minority,,let's just say " a lot more.
My opinion is that it's still cheap,,, I see people here paying AUD 4.00 for 500 ml water ( no I'm not going to convert it for the minority),,, so petrol is CHEAP>
By the way Gas is not a liquid therfore is not usually measured in other than cubic metres.
Diesel price rises have exceded those of petrol ( gas for Americans,, still need to know why your petrol comes in a non liquid form? ),, Diesel,, oh yes, we have enough shale oil to supply the world in diesel for decades,, just waiting for the price to be economical for conversion.
Those cherries are looking VERY cheap.

$A has been sitting over 30 baht for at least a week now - any thoughts that it will continue higher against the baht? (I don't care that we are at record levels against the $US as everybody is at the moment)
For me, 30 baht has been a turn around point for $A/baht over the last three or four years and a personal set-point for moving cash from $A to baht (my relatively small amounts - no sheep stations here).

Where do you buy Thai baht say in the U.S. beside airport which is the worst exchange you'll ever see, and why would you want to when the use of T.C.'s is so much safer, that alone would outway what would be a very small advantage, if any, in the exchange,

say at the exchange place on Soi 7 or a place like that,
they seem to have the same rates as the banks....
well I think they are bank owned anyway...

Quack Quack: I am pretty sure that the two tier system was phased out a month or so ago. What I am less sure about is whether they brought it back in, as that may have gone under my radar, but I doubt it very much.
The dollar and the pound seem to be inching up (or the baht inching down), and 33 or so is what you get on the streets here (I'll check when I go out later, and edit this post if it is not the case).

Sorry for the delay. Checked yesterday, the street exchanges are buying dollars for somewhere between 33 and 34 for the dollar, depending upon what notes you sell them.
(as you probably know, street exchange only buy dollars, have to go to bank to sell dollars, and you'll forgive me, I haven't done that, so don't know spread etc).

OK folks,
It looks like there will be a US bail-out. Good for Wall Street, good for Main Street, but real bad for US tourists going overseas.
It works like this. Being that the US already has a deficit to generate the $700 B the US will have to increase its Money Supply. The more money in the system, the less it is worth.
Now this will be offset by some of the money being dumped into the system by the BOJ, EU Central Bank, and a handful of other countries that have agreed to 'contribute'. But the sum total of this is only about $100 B. This leaves the US with the job of ponying up the difference.
Expect the US dollar to go down and not recover for a long time.
Now before you post in response take off the 'rose-colored' glasses and look this up in an Economics book.... also, do not shoot the messenger, shoot a few Wall Street Investment Bankers instead  ...

in the us it is highly illegal... but there are now copy machines that can make copies of money that is very difficult to tetect... now imagine if you got one of the machines (which by the way is very hard to do and is closely monitored) and took it up country.... or any where where you can print at will... dont print dollars... print money that does not have the security features of dollars.... one could run amock....... print somewhere else, then bring in your money.... spend it, use it.... you could do this for most countries of the world... this is not meant to be an idea, but would make a great movie.... ; )
