Bua Restaurant just off of Silom on Convent Road is very good, consistent quality, good service...not super cheap but not sky-high prices either, a decent value. When I lived in BKK I would always take friends (including Thais) who didn't want to eat street food (my usual choice) there, everyone has always been happy with it.

Silom Village Trade Center: 286 Silom Rd. The last traditional Thai village on Silom Road. Silom Village is comprised of 15 teak houses as well as 3 buildings that were constructed in 1908. The compound has been converted to a restaurant and Thai handicraft shops. A great place to buy souviners. Recently an affordable hotel has also been constructed on the premises. The restaurant offers Thai as well as fresh seafood. Moreover, in the evenings you can catch an authentic performance of various forms of traditional Thai dance.
OK, that was the review, I have eaten there and it was fine....
Another place is next to Chong Nonsi BTS stop.... you can't miss it.... get off the BTS, there is a large blue sign and I just can't remember the name of the place.... local Thais like the place a lot.

Thanks for the ideas Bua and Silom Village Trade Center sound pretty good. I'm a big fan of seafood so will give it a try when I'm over in July.

Banana Leaf restaurant has good Thai food. The price is not expensive. They have one in the baseman of Silom Complex.
If you want to try out from street vendors at night, walk along silom...and down on Convent.
