... you qualify "near", so I'll accept that you are reaching on this one... I got a jones for Mexican Food so follow it here, but I don't bother reaching as far out as Pathumthani Province.

... friends who lived out there loved it, but they were desperate and from New York City, so couldn't tell the difference between refried horse shit and black beans.

having spent way too much time in LOS and starved for Mexican food, I think maybe the best route is to make your own. Especially if you like Tex-Mex...... Lots of sites online to give you recipies and the spices are available in Bangkok..... One thing will be hard.... tortillas.... Thai's do not like them.... my wife's friends here in the U.S. and I talk abou tthis all the time... across the board they do not like tortillas..... but after a while they start to like them, I asked why? She told me Thai's look at tortillas as being all fat..... funny...
ut any ways back to your question... Simple... buy some cumin, peppers and onions....chicken will do..... then mix tomatoes, cilantro (if you can find it) lime, onions etc and you have salsa....
but I regress..... look it up on t internet...
I asked my wife why don't Thai's slow cook chicken etc. so they have real bbq? she said Thais don't like to cook so long to wait for their food..... Have you ever seen and eaten Isaan chicken? Very good......
OK time for me to sign off, drunk as usual... thailife.....

Thais can eat Tortillas if they are flour. The problem most of them seem to have is that corn smell on the tortillas and partly with the texture. You will be assured of this if you ever offer a Thai person a tamale. I've never know a Thai person to like a tamale no matter how good it was.
I chased good Mexican food in BKK and was only disappointed. Their best Mex is worse than the worst Mex in California. And it costs a lot more, too. I just stay clear of Mex in Thailand...
