I've got a TG I've been in contact with for quite a while, and we're planning on meeting up when I visit in July.
She works in BKK, but she's only been in the city for about 7 months and doesn't know much about the restaurant scene.
I told her I'd do some research and try and find a place along Sukhumvit where we can enjoy good Thai food/Seafood, air conditioning, and a relaxed atmosphere.
We will both be on foot and taking the skytain if that helps on tips...

Try
Cabbages and Condoms restaurant.
When you finish the meal they give you a condom or two at the table.
At least you get your message get accross you her if she is a virgin.

I liked eating at "Pasta and Noodles" the restaurant is sorty trendy western style but the food is mostly Thai. pretty good.
Right on Sukhumvit around Soi 9 or so (on the Clinton Plaza side of the street)

Their is also a great Italian restaurant on Suk near Soi 5, called Palamo or something like that. for two people about 1200 -1400 Baht average.
Also on the corner Suk & Soi 5 is a good cheaply priced Thai and seafood restaurant. for two people about 1000 - 1200 Baht, avergae
One of the best seafood places in town is at the Seafood Restuarant on Soi 24. For two people 2000-2500 Baht, depending on how many lobsters you have

bkkz, yes your right, it rings a bell.
I was pretty pissed that night. Anyway thats my excuse.
Have a bad memory for names.
Point is, that I took two ladies their that night and it was relavtively cheap. I think I paid 1600Baht for the 3 of us to eat that night.
I was too busy looking up their skirts and down their tops, to really notice the name of the restaurant , (but yes it is Pomodoro) and too eager to get them home.
Paid about the same amount the following morning after desert.

Thanks for the tips everyone, and craigoz I think I will have a look at the seafood place you mentioned on Soi 24. If it's got a blend of Thai dishes and tasty things from the ocean that may be our place!
OZ is it called "The Seafood Restaurant" ?
How far down 24? Left or right hand side?

Yes I think it is, or possible the Seafood Market Restaurant.
Its the biggest Seafood restaurant in BKK, about 30-40 cooks.
If your coming from Sukhumvit Rd, its about 1KM DOWN SOI 24, FROM SUKHUMVIT RD on your left hand side with a huge lobster sign out the front. Can miss it. ITS IS NOT THE FIRST ONE ON YOUR LEFT UP SOI 24 . 200M FROM SUKHUMVIT.
The drive in entrance is a bit like a hotel and all the little cooks are lined up in the semi open kitchen at the front entrance area.
They serve all types of seafood and thai dishes. Have fresh vegatables, fruits, wine etc
Their motto (on the sign when youwalk in) is "If it swims we have it" or something similar.
