How does Stage Deli compare to Carnegie or Katz?
I have been to both Carnegie and Stage many times. The quality of corned beef at Stage is comparable to Carnegie. Sandwich's at Stage are a little smaller than at Carnegie (which means you can actually finish one yourself without looking like a pig).
I went to Katz one time when I happened to be in that area for some other reason, but it was too crowded so I left after about 10 minutes (ruined by the "When Harry Met Sally" movie).

Uh, that would be closer to West Hollywood, but, in fact, it's in the Fairfax District of LA, and nowhere near North Hollywood.
I grew up on that place, Sundays at Grandma's: corned beef, whitefish, tongue, Kaiser and onion rolls, cream cheese from Canter's. Cake from Schwartz Bakery, 3 doors down...
Agree that a sesame seed bun disqualifies a Reuben candidate; lettuce is a hanging offense.
Didn't Annie Hall order a pastrami on white with lettuce, tomato and mayo?

What do I know? I lived in NoCal, just know they had some great corned beef, although could be a little dry sometimes.
Wanderingsam is right, get your Reuben fix at home, if possible. The rest of us have to make do. Wish Bei Otto or Soi 11 Brau Haus served them, these places have good sauerkraut, but the sandwich has american origins.
Dr L, don't know what they serve in the Landmark coffeehouse. I have a discount card for Huntsman, so not much price difference for me

sauerkraut on sandwiches?? jesus. my good old
friend otto would probably ask you to leave, if you order that. definitely the best sauerkraut in town, imported from germany.
I actually saw oz eating a reuben at the landmark patio, it looks good. curly fries are grerat too.

Mr A is spot on - Carnegie sandwiches are huge. There is a place in the Bowery that's amazing as well - been there forever near Christie Street - the name escapes me - its awesome,Yo Ismael or something like that -best blintzes/bialies in town - great for hangovers - 1910 like atmosphere.
May have to hit the Landmark when I get in town.

Second that - I am from UK, but have sampled Stage Deli Rueben in NYC many times and the Rueben at Landmark is surprisingly good.... def worth a visit if you crave a Rueben.
