yeh excuse me mate where have I said anything about $10 meals? I just said it is expensive and I realise that some of u here are on tight budgets and dont like to spend money, its nothing personal.
im not flashing my wealth, im making a point that some of u might like to know before hand that it is an expensive place to go.
i have no problems paying top money for quality, my post was stating the fact that it was not worth the money
$300 for a meal for 2 is a lot, but I had lobster and half the bill was alcohol
but even so it is not worth $300
its not about the money - u want me to tell u im rich? it doesnt make any difference, im just saying that it is not worth what they are charging.
and my 20baht noodles on silom road at 3a.m was just as good
it seems any time some makes a post with some sort of financial context that some people take it the wrong way, whether its overpaying for LT or paying $300 for a meal. yes there are guidelines for p4p but if I decide to tip more or pay more or drink champagne or eat lobster or tip the toilet cleaner 500tb then its a personal choice, theres no need to flame me (for e.g) or call me a prick.

my point was that some people prefer to pay less for their food than some others do
thats why I said I thought guisto was reasonable price but maybe others wouldnt
however I do think mezzaluna is overpriced. I wouldnt mind the price if the food quality matched it but it didnt so I was just warning others,not bragging about how rich I must be to afford to eat there
anyway back to the topic
angelinis in the shangrila is also good but also yes its in a 5* hotel so price is 5* too

I concur than Angelinis is an excellent restaurant,, ate there several times in Feb 2006.
Lunch there is definately NOT over-priced as even a poor Aussie convict was more than happy with the bill.
Was about 800BHT for 2 ( without wine), the Lamb was excellent ( obvioulsy sourced from Aus or NZ ).

That is alot better than Giusto, which is 1250 baht for a lobster pasta dish that is not even close (1/5) to what they advertised at their website. I feel cheated since what I received was in no way what they showed at the website. http://www.giustobangkok.com/menus_special.asp
Hey, I am all for marketing, however this is just wrong to advertise what the customer will never get. JMHO

La Gritta on sukhumvit 19 is a place I recently visited and very much liked. It was a good atmosphere, lovely staff and good food. Really an enjoyable evening for me. Can only recommend it, as it was affordable too. Cheers!

Give me break. He wasn't scoffing. It was a joke for goodness sake.
Anyway...although I agree that 1700 bht a head is pricey (it's about GBP30 or USD50) it still included half a bottle of wine each as well as a starter, main and dessert.
However, it's still peanuts compared to a top Italian gaffe in a European capital. Some of the places in South Kensington and Knightsbridge happily charge 100 quid a head or more with wine included.
Anyway....debate aside. There is absolutely no need whatsoever for abusive language. It just utterly reduces you from intelligent contributor to mindless scally.
Come on guys....let's try to be civil huh.
