Working 16 hours on Xmas?! That's not right! But neither is an egg sandwich!
Only a few times over the years have I gone to the expense or the trouble of finding a turkey meal on the holidays, though I have sometimes scored free ones from working at hotels.(So far none of the Thais have been offended by this display of my ignorant American ways, as far as I know.  )
In any case, my favorite part of the holiday meals was always the leftovers. I love a good Hot Roast Turkey sandwich!

Excuse me: Thanksgiving. Substitute all references to Xmas in my posts with Thanksgiving. Everything else still stands.
And beleive it or not, for those who are interested there is some acknowledgement of this American holiday. One can find places to go for it. As most of us know, the Thais are quick to adopt holidays for reasons of sanook and/or profit.

Damn Mr. Joe, please don't tell me that some of the bar owners make the hello girls stand out in front of the bar dressed up in a turkey or pilgrim costume. On second thought if you were to walk inside and find all the dancers dressed up in those cute Pocahontas outfits I'M THERE! . Peace

You may have an interesting angle -- BGs dressed as Pilgrims. Kinda kinky, but I like it ....
BTW, my TGF told me they were very cogniscent of Thanksgiving in her bar. She knew about the turkey and the whole bit (if not the reason for the holiday in the States). She told me they used to have something like a wild turkey in LOS, but that it had been hunted relentlessly (I have never verified this factoid). As MrJoe so aptly put it, another reason for sanuk/profit. Giving a lonely farang some "turkey" on Thanksgiving was a great way to fill their purses. Ha!

The turkey costume is worn by the hello girls outside to entice the guys to come inside. Once inside can you imagine seeing a dance stage loaded with ladies wearing the brown leather moccasins, the 2 piece brown leather bikini, the beaded necklace, the head band with the feather sticking in it........ OK, SOMEBODY SLAP ME SILLY QUICK!

You're dredging up a fond mammary, er, memory from my teenage years. Was a Star Trek fan, and remember one episide where Cap'n Kirk ends up on this planet, has amnesia, and falls for this beautiful Pocahantas looking girl named Miramanee. I was in love with her from then on -- the buckskins, head band, necklace, the whole ninety yards. And her bodacious tatas certainly helped! I can't image what would happen if I saw a stage full of BGs dressed like that. Thought I died and gone to heaven for sure. Sorry, looks like I'm drooling on myself again ...

Actually I can't remeber what the occasion was but I recall back in the day, when KG used to have frequent "theme nights", there were Go-Go Girls dressed as Indian maidens.
And yes, it was a sight to see.
BTW Balls, I remember that episode (but I'm not enough of a geek to actually know her name! )

Wow, I wish I'd seen that "theme night!" I'm forever jealous! This is where we need that machine that scans someones brainwaves and let's us see their fond memories up on the big screen, hehe.
Funny you remember that Star Trek episode. I was definitely a geek in high school, and kept a tortured diary of things I'd write down occasionally. Mirmanee's name made into that twisted tome (along with Natalie Woods in Splendor in the Grass, for what it's worth, but I don't want to digress too far from the buckskins theme here). But I'm feeling much better these days, honest, they let me out in the afternoons, and they only make me take a few meds everyday ....
