give park avenue steakhouse across from central chidlom a try. I was there a few weeks ago and tried the matsusaka beef. it was deliciously sick. way too fatty to eat all 8 oz. but it was damn tasty. at 400 baht per oz., it wasn't a bargain! stick with kobe if you like wagyu, otherwise they have good selection of australian and usda cuts which are chilled and never frozen, so the advertised slogan goes.
awesome cellar as well. check out all the premier crus empty bottles!

Babe, you obviously ain't been nowhere that serves great steak in the US. Many fantastic steak & chop houses.

I'm sure there are better places in BKK, but I have found the steaks at 'STEAK ONE' in Soi 4 (right up the street from NEP, to your left) to both excellent, and reasonable.

Yes there are better places than that, but if you want a good steak and dont want to eat in a fancy place, and want to in 20 min this is the perfect place, I have been there many times allways fun to sit outside and watch them cook your food.

Have had steaks, both local meat and imported argentinian at Livingstones, suk. soi 33 several times.
Never been dissapointed.

Haven't check recently, but I believe Thailand continues to ban imported U.S. beef [ostensibly for BSE, but more likely retaliation for U.S. duties on Thai shrimp imports].
Until imported chilled U.S. beef returns to Thai grills, try the locally grown French-Thai hybrid beef [chilled, not frozen] offered at many of the finer restaurants. Quite good.
When chilled U.S. beef returns, New York Steakhouse at J.W. Marriott is hard to beat if you enjoy basic, no frills American-style steaks.

Update: I still can't find a blue rump. Plus I find ever more amusing the thought of people finding out their 'chilled', not frozen, steak had been stored in a freezer, or even worse (!) atificially tenderised with enzymes
