My first choise for Italian...in Bangkok.
But open to try other Italian....

No all is fair in shag and war...
Actually my 'contact' is at Siroccos and she told me the Italian (with an unpronouncable name beginning with M) is opening on the 16th.
If you PM me I am sure I can get you a good table although I suspect you will be able to get any table you like in early days. As far as I know there is no opening party (or I havent been invited anyway).
(PS. An FR would be nice...)

Saw an ad today for the new Italian place atop State Tower - Mezzaluna. I guess it is open.
I was told the chef's name is Michelli or something like that.

There is a great new Italian rest. that opened on Sala Deng Road close to Rama 4. It is called Sala Rossa and it is awesome. I read about it opening in the Bangkok Post and went by for a taste. It has only been open for a couple of months. The mussels and the pasta dishes are the best. The owner and staff were actually pretty cool with some good looking talent.
Well, as you can see I am bored in LA and looking forward to my flight back on Sunday.

Pondolasco on Soi 2 (Sukhumvit) about 200 mtr after Rajah on RHS (set off road in own grounds - look for the Italian flag). Great food, excellent wine list, not too pricey - try the risotto porcini.

Thought I would mention an extremely average Italian place- Da Lalo at corner of Sukhumvit & Soi 23. Very uninspired menu. Had insalada caprese which was good but the basil leaves were miniscule. Pork loin ok but paper thin. Pasta average and pizza less so.
Good news is that is crawling distance to Soi Cowboy!

Jack, I agree with you on Da Lalo, nothing to write home about.
Took a business collegue to La Piola (deep on Sukhumvit Soi 13) last month, very good quality, especially the antipasto. No menu, about 1000 baht/person.

La piola used to be a nice place long time ago, the quality went down to the abyss.
