Chok Tsi is a Steakhouse about half hour south of Khorat on highway 2. Just before getting there is a massive log sign anouncing Chok Tsi Steakhouse. The building is made out of large logs. It's one of those roadside sirens that beckon to you to stop. My TGF and I were able to resist this temptation when heading upcountry(Isan) from Bangkok. On the way back to Bangkok we surrendered to the siren call of Chok Tsi. Having been in LOS for 2.5 weeks I was ready for a good steak. I needed to renew that musty farang odor of beef. Now don't get me wrong, I tried through out the trip. For instance I ordered the 200 baht filet mignon in Chiang Mai, which was as tender as an old water bufalo hoof. Good thing I had plan B in waiting, padia noodles.
Anyway ordered the 28 day aged bacon wrapped filet mignon barbequed over a wood fire. This set me back 1,000 baht. It came with a salad and a large baked patato. I had a large Hieniken beer with it. The steak was the best I ever had in Thailand. The steak was cooked to perfection (meduim a tad to the well side). The meat was very tender and soft to the knife. I had steak, beer, and my very beautiful Isan girl, what more could a man ask for?
Now, I'm home and only have a memory of a very good steak dinner! Anybody that writes about food on a pussy forum, must be the board idiot!

Steaks not really my thing...but to be honest we could do with far more food discussion on the board.....restaurant commentary etc. Thai cuisine is a huge reason for my coming here / living here......I rarely eat foreign food...and certainly not my native nonsense!...and here one can afford to eat in reasonable quality restaurants daily without worrying about the bill.
Now then...where is the best Bla Kapong Neung Manau in Bangkok as my favourite has closed / relocated???...any suggestions?

Steamed sea bass/perch in a lemon and chilli sauce / soup (depends on where you order it)......quite superb...had a great one last weekend but it was outside BKK so cannot make it a regular haunt.
btw...done...(and you have been ....LOL)....send me $100 and you can be the board idiot...though I can think of some who achieve it for free

Going upcountry on the last trip,we stopped in one of the steak houses opposite to the one mentioned.
The taste of the steak resembled chewing some damp driftwood.
Next time we will try Chok Tsi after reading your report,

never had a good steak in bkk. and always thought it was the same meat from the cow which is used to make thai squeaky leather furniture. was this steak imported and from where?
