hi guys,
this is one topic i'm not sure about and i hope some Bros here can help me. ok, i'm trying to extract some info for a good friend of mine regarding the river cruise.
ok, here i go.
first of all, where is the location that i can find these cruise and the exact location, or the name i can tell the taxi driver. secondly, how is the dinner served onboard? do i buy the food from somewhere else and bring them along or i can purchase them before the cruise?? last, hoew do they charge? do they charge the cruise per head or by the whole boat? and the dinner ad well, how much do one expect to pay for a party of 6, thats inclusive of the cruise and dinner??
or is it advisable to just join the hotel tours or is it better to venture by oneself??

There are a lot of different cruises. When I went last January, I was amazed at the number on the river.
The way they charge varies. Some charge a big fee and you get to eat from a buffet, drinks are extra.. they tend to be fancier and not as relaxed.
The one I went on is across the Chao Phrya and left from what I think is the River Hotel.. there is a huge Carlsberg sign on the Hotel and someone told me that is the Carlsberg boat?? I never saw the name as my Thai g/f set it up.
Cost was reasonable. I think B100-200 per person and then you select off a menu with prices comparable to "inside" restaurants in Bkk. With a couple of big beers for me, I think the total bill was under B1,000...
A very nice cruise and I enjoyed it and would do it again.
On this boat you have a choice of upstairs (open air) or downstairs (has a disco and is very loud) .. In the rainy season, bring an umbrella or two?? I think you would be better to do this from Nov-Mar, but check the weather and see.
I found the trip interesting and romantic.. not a bad way to spend the evening... My g/f drove her car, so I don't know how to get there.. but it is more "up river" as the trip heads down river and then returns..
I think that you should book this thru your hotel or a travel agent.. would not add much to the cost .. be careful as some TA's will attempt to sell you the trip with the highest commission..
If he has a g/f she could find out about it for him.

I agree with brother Oaktoad, there are several cruises offering the service for a romantic dinner and all of them with different prices. You better refer to the links posted by BK and get an idea. Then, choose either to arrange it yourself or through the hotel of your convenience.
I can tell you about the cruise offered by the Shangri-la Hotel. Total damage B/.1,600/person. This includes a buffet dinner, taxes, tips, etc. You will be on boat for around 1 1/2 hours and each time I got a nice time together with my kitten. Of course, the type of cruise you would like to arrange will depend upon the type of "feeling" you have with your "couple" despite she is a BG/GG-girl/MP-girl or even your official kitten. CHEERS!!!!

Hi Guys,
I am back.
River Cruise is a GO.
I took a thai lady on a dinner cruise (not a working girl) and one reason it worked so well was because the crew keep you bussy with pointing out the nive things to see whilst you eat and the evening trip is actually quite romantic if you are in the mood. As we had just met at the time that helped on shyness and limited english skills.
We both enjoyed it and each other's company. I ordered the cruise in my hotel and took it from there - Mariot Resort and Health Spa by the river.
