Some 30 different restaurants to choose from - some pretty well known. Anyone used this service? How quick is it? What is the food like by the time it has motorcylced its way over to your place?

Well he's a good mate but not the sort of guy I particularly respect his opinions on food. He loves the service cos he can invite TGs back to his place for dinner.

Basically as good as the food of the restaurant from where it is ordered from. These guys are fairly decent. I used them long ago when I used to work more and I would be in the office with a group of guys late into the night.
Problem is sometimes with the specific restaurant you select. They may be the one taking too long or not well prepared to handle these type of orders.
Typical problem for us back then was that we called we extremely hungry on a company account and often ended ordering more than we needed.
Since now I work less, I do not use them anymore.

I cant recommend this service highly enough (and I promise I have nothing to do with the business).
1. Ordered their menu book on their site. Next day hand delivered with 120 pages of menus.
2. Rang and ordered a pizza from Limoncello. The girl spoke perfect english and when I told her my location she knew immediately. (They obviously have a computerised mapping system). Food arrived just under an hour later. (And of course cant beat Limoncello for pizzas).
3. A few days later, I ordered boiled crawfish from Bourbon Street. When the girl answered the phone she asked for my phone number and immediately knew of my location. Food took 25 minutes to arrive (my place is pretty close to Soi 22). Again absolutely excellent.
I know it is a bit sad discussing take away food services (!!) but this must beat internal room service pretty well anywhere and certainly improves on trips to 7/11.
Unfortunately the service stops at 10.30pm....

will be staying in an apartment for 4 weeks on Sukhumvit Road and as I have some work to do, don't intend to be out every night. Have heard the food @ Emporium is not the best so am thinking of using this service. Anyone got any further opinions on the subject?
Say I want something from a certain eatery and my g/f wants something from somewhere else is that ok with them?
Does the quoted price include delivery and if so, what sort of "tip" should I give the deliveryman/woman - ( got to be P.C. nowadays) ?
Thanks for any help.

The food service at the Emporium Suites may not be great (probably at least average hotel food), but the Emporium shopping center has quite few very good restaurants and food courts. Just outside the Emporium grocery store on 5F they also have a large number of take-away prepared foods. The food choices in the Emporium are extensive and quite good.
I am not sure if you are staying at the Emporium Suites, but if so, you will probably will not need to be getting your food delivered by motorcycle.
There are also some very good restaurants (particularly Italian) nearby to the Emporiium on Soi 31.

If you have the menu book, the prices are for food only. Each restaurant you order from is subject to a Bt60/delivery charge. So if you order from one restaurant and your gf from another you will pay the food price and Bt120 for delivery. (It will still work out cheaper than ordering from Emporium Suites).
The price quoted by the girl on the end of the phone includes delivery. You dont have to tip the delivery guy but I guess most people do - usually I just round it off to the nearest Bt100.

Also try Room Service (02-299-0992). I tend to use them more than Food By Phone as their list of restaurants is larger.
They're sponsoring that weird show on channel 34 and deliver the food there.
