Although the cuts (and the bread and side orders) at JW are presented in a way that more closely resemble those from macho-beef-eating places like Sparks, Post House, or any other major steakhouse in NYC, the taste of the beef at Madison is tops.

JW and Madison are my two top choices for beef in Bangkok.

You and your family will share one person's dinner? Ok, ok, just pulling your leg. I do not remember the prices per item. But with some cocktail drinks, I remember paying about 4,000 for two people at Madison. I remember also thinking that JW is a bit more expensive as -also doing like in NYC- they charge for every single thing separately.

There is a wide variety of cost for the beef cuts -in proportions not seen in other places- depending also of the country of origin of the specific animal your meat is coming from and the size. You have Australian and USA beef and cuts showing weight from about 200 grams to over 500 grams. Thus you can get a big USA cut costing you 4 times more than a small Australian one... well, maybe I am exagerating... but you get the idea.

Maybe another bro with better memory can give more detailed info.

Remember also that these, being hotels, also charge you a 10% + 7% service charges.

Try Bourbon Street behind Washington Square. Basically a Cajun restaurant but my date had a steak there and said it was pretty good. Do not remember prices. Do know it is one of the few American Restaurants own and ran by Americans.

There is an Outback Steakhouse in the Siam Discovery Center. This is a moderately priced steakhouse known in the US for fairly good food, although not quite the quality of steaks you would find at a premium steak house (and not the prices either). Despite it's name, it is a US chain.

I was dissapointed with the Outback at Siam DC. Many of the popular items in the USA menu are not here. And the beef is not comparable to those of Outbacks in the USA. Unlike other USA chains that insure that their food is the same everywhere (Pizza Hut, MacDonalds, etc.) I found this local Outback a bit lacking. The prices however are very decent. But for those lower prices I like more Pil Pil at Emporium or Steak One at Suk. soi 4.

I have done same day booking at JW, but the problem is that they are very small and it fills rapidly. I usually use one of the private rooms that they have as I usually dine with very LOUD people. But right now USDA beef is off of the menu only Aussie beef, so Madison look slike your best bet.

One of my friends says the Thai place "Ckokchai" not sure of spelling is the best that Thailand has to offer from specially grown Thai beef. They have a few places around town.
