Police told to shut 'places of temptation'

Police were yesterday told to shut down places of temptation near schools after a survey found many schools are surrounded by them. Social Development and Human Security Minister Paiboon Wattanasiritham said a survey of 12 Bangkok schools conducted by parent and student networks from May 7-17 found that within a radius of 500 metres of most schools there were bars, karaoke clubs, internet cafes and shops selling video games, pornography, alcohol and cigarettes.
At a meeting with police, city officials and representatives of parents and students yesterday, Mr Paiboon said he is forming a special committee to close down such premises and urged police to enforce the law strictly to protect students.
Tiwaporn Petklab, 19, and chairperson of Bangkok Youth Council from Bang Khunthian district, told the meeting that football bookmakers, snooker clubs and shops with gambling machines were also operating near the schools.
The businesses belong to the parents of some students, she said. They use students who have fallen into debt from gambling to push drugs to other students.
Miss Tiwaporn said a public park on Rama II road and areas near the Memorial bridge are places where gang rapes have occurred.
Pornographic CDs, she said, are available in the vicinity of schools in Saphan Lek and Ban Mor areas.
She said she and her friends had been approached by pornographic film producers to perform in such films in exchange for 5,000-10,000 baht.

I used to live in USA and would visit Thailand a few times a year for some R&R. I've done bars, soapies, and my favorite Edend club a number of times. Now I live and work in Hong Kong (which sucks ) but sunny Thailand is only a few hours away 
However I would like to get a sort of a sponsored relationship with a girl who I can see whenever I visit and who can also travel with me when I cannot make it to Bangkok, so she cannot be regularly employed at a club or a massage parlour, a college girl with lots of free time might be a better option. I am fortunate to be independently wealthy, so $$$ is not a problem. However when I approached girls (either on adultfriendfinder or in person) I dont get much success. It is frustrating,I am 40, in great shape, look reasonable, dress well, etc, but I guess I am saying or doing something wrong, or maybe thai girls outside of bars are more picky than their reputation. Any advise or personal experiences would be much appreciated.

Very funny seajohn No offense, but if I really wanted that sort of help I would be better off to hire a well connected Thai guy to introduce girls rather than a foreigner, no matter how well informed. If all else fails maybe I would do that in the end. The difficult part is the girl has to look presentable in a nice hotel or restaurant. Most bar girls, sweet as they are would not pass this test.

But seriously, voyager, I'll put in my two cents since you ask and didn't hate my joke... I have had a reasonable amount of experience in making dates with retail shopgirls and students etc over the years living here... I find it relatively easy, in fact, as do many men here... I am myself average in charm, I guess... But one thing that has worked for me is Thai language ability, which opens up the whole Thai girl world; I would recommend learning it in words and body language and idioms everything--feel how they think... Another thing is be prepared to spend some time with them, waste some time with them. As your relationship develops a bit (this might take 3 to 5 dates, and she understands you've got your work in Hong Kong and she can go with you there sometimes--Wow there you are.
But do not simply present her with the business proposal of being your concubine. This is offensive to a woman's pride. In Thailand these relationships develop as a result of a tacit understanding. Both sides can be patient.
Of course, I don't know what strategy you normally use or how you present yourself already, voyager. But in my experience, once you learn how to relate to them, it's much more a case of How do I not get so many women wanting this kind of relationhip with me...?

Seajohn's proposal is probably a good bet. If not, try SweetSingles, there are a lot of nice 25 -35 yr old ladies with education and a flexible situation who want a steady boyfriend, but who preffer NOT leaving Thailand to live elsewhere.
Invest a 2 week holiday, set up a meet with 4 - 6 interesting ladies after screening them on SweetSingle's web page and go meet them at the office.
Have dinners and sightseeing, offer to set one you like up with you in a separate hotel room, she will invite intimacy as long as you treat her with a lot of respect and patience.

Well if he doesn't have time for it then he can just stick with the more obvious charmers for rent... a perceptive person can even find a few gems there too... however with his current scorecard, better not.
In any event, it's true, the relatively short period of getting to know them and playing it cool and steady is worth it, very worth it with his goals in mind.
And LY is right as well. Voyager, I don't mean to be patronizing, and I don't know how much time you've spent trying to get some understanding of the society here, but you simply must get with the big picture if you want any success in your ambitious plan: Do not hire any kind of connected Thai guy to set you up with a woman in this situation, especially. That would be insane, I'm afraid. Not only would he get a cut of everything, if she was worth anything he'd try to be f***ing her himself, and if he isn't already f***ing her himself, there's probably something wrong with her that he's not telling you and still getting an even bigger cut out of it.
