I agree that Texas might just stomp on Ohio State, and that Texas Tech got the shaft. But I think Boise State also got shafted.

Both Cincinnati and VT got in because their conference champs get a lock into the BCS. I can swallow Cincinnait – they have two loses but one was to OK. But VT – fark me they have like four loses and still get into a BSC game?

I think there needs to be a clause in the BSC deal that no conference champ with more than two loses can get an automatic bid - or some such thing to prevent things like what is happening with VT to happen again.

If I could reset the bowls I would leave the Rose, and the BSC title games as is. The Orange would be Cincinnati vs Boise State, the Sugar would be Alabama vs Texas, Fiesta would be Texas Tech vs Utah

IMHO there is too much talk surrounding the BCS in regard to which fans will still be willing to travel where when considering the bowl selections - fans willing to travel or not should not be a factor - most of the money comes from TV revenue and not tickets anyway.

IB, you make a good point about the bowls inviting teams that are close so they can get the fans there... in reality, when you have.500 teams going to a bowl, you know it's about money, not about quality football.... why is Notre Dame in a bowl?

I mean the Bwosl dig so deep into conferences to get teams that I wonder if they are not just diluting the whole thing... all the ore reason for a 8 team playoff format.

I certainly "hope" Texas stomps Ohio State, but that is not likely. Texas may win, but it will be close. Ohio State has a lot more to gain from a win than does Texas, which is going to have a real morale problem.

The communities that host the games put up a lot of money, and they need for fans to travel to break even and justify the huge expense they incur. Almost all of the TV revenue goes to the teams who play (in most conferences the money is shared among all teams in the conference).

The travel deal is more critical this year because of the economy problems, and it is expected that a lot fewer fans are willing to travel to bowl game.

Becasue they get more money from the TV networks and more fans attend the games. The NCAA had to institute the 6-win rule (otherwise known as the Notre Dame rule) than requires a team to have at least 6 wins to be invited to a bowl game. Previous to that rule, Notre Dame was invited even when they had a loosing season.

Bull
Prediction: Ohio St. gets spanked for the third year in a row.
They can't hang with the best from the SEC and now the Big 12.

Too bad for Texas Tech that only 2 teams from a conference can make it to a BCS game. Now we have to put up with 11-2 Cincinnati and 9-4 Virginia Tech.

Oh, well. Maybe we'll have a playoff in 2015. Not.

The Heisman was awarded a few days ago. Voting went thusly:

1. Bradford - Oklahoma (Big 12)
2. McCoy - Texas (Big 12)
3. Tebow - Florida (SEC)
4. Harrell - Texas Tech (Big 12)

I still keep touting the Big 12 as the strongest conference, and particularly the Southern Division.

Just a few more days to await the results of all the bowl games.

EXP,

The Big 12 might be good but what about ladies field hockey?? I don't see any report about them in this arena!

And Mr. Alan, I don't believe it is the communities putting up big money. Each bowl has a prominent sponsor among others who pay. The communities MAKE big money from local hotels, eateries, etc.

OOps! Guess I just had one of them brain farts too!

"That's easy to say now that OU's star running back DeMarco Murray with 1002 yards this season is out of the game becasue of injuries."

If you guys dont mind I am moving the college talk back to this thread...as I am sure the other one will get much attention going into the pro playoffs...

I didnt realize the RB for OU was out...damn I was betting on FL anyway but now I am even more confident......

EPC....we can call off our little wager if you so desire...but being a strong Big 12 man you seem like the type of guy that will honor it...

It's all just for shits and giggles anyway

I am sooooooo confident Tebow will dominate that it makes no difference to me...and that says a TON coming from a Dawg!!!!!

Now Bradford had a hell of a season and deserved the Hiesman but without any serious running threat FL knows what will be coming almost every down...not that they didnt have a clue before....

I believe its gonna be SEC 3 years in a row
