Aside from my question, I figured a general thread on Taxi's could be useful 
Does anyone know the going rate to grab a taxi from Suvarnabhumi to Phitsanulok?
Also, Bangkok to Trat? I know flights to Trat are about 1800 baht one way and I just wanted to compare!

Many taxis have a detailed rate card with long-distance rates to virtually all the provinces on it (and if memory serves, they are pretty much the standard market rates) hanging over the front seat...that card must be available for viewing somewhere else as well?

atl, Taxi would cost Bht 3500 to 4000. Bus fare from Bangkok airport is Bht 350 approximately. Time takes about 5 to 6 hours.

Bus fare from Ekamai station to Trat is bt220, or you can get a taxi that will do it for bt2200, you just have to negotiate with them on a weekday. Mini Van from Victory Monument is bt210.
I go to Koh Chang quite a bit, and that's what I pay to Trat if I stop there.
