What is the current recommended antibiotic regimen....syph & gon.? Are they generally available? I know that cipro & Zithro were (a bit ago) the rule, but as the target keeps moving, what's the rule now? Thanks Bob

Simple advice go to your doctor. Just because the condom broke is no reason to start taking drugs. You should of course get an HIV text ect..... However if you don't develop any symptoms over the next 7-10 days I wouldn't start taking meds now. Go to a doc and get checked out. He may say you don't have to take anything.

Just relax..... if you got something (Gon is the most common) you'll get signs within 24 hours. If you want to see a doctor, pick one in a good hospital. If you go to a clinic they might try to extract money out of you by telling you you were infected. HIV test? What's the use.... the result will be there long after you went home....

If the girl this happened with is HIV positive, then some medicine can be taken within 24 hours of the incident to help fight the virus. But the medicine is very serious stuff with possibly tons of side effects. But as DrLove said, the HIV test itself is useless after such a short period of time.

cipro, 2 pills first dose, then 1 at night and 1 in th emorning if a bad case... otherwise, 1 per day for a week if not cipro, a zithromax pack will do....take 2 pills at once, then 1 every 24 hours untiul pack is gone. but you dont need anyof this unless you have something..... eaiest way is to go to the doctors.... antibiotics are cheap in LOS.....

Best advice is to pull your self together, stop worrying, and see a doctor. DO NOT buy meds and treat yourself. People take some of these medicines too lightly, and you can do yourself quite a bit of damage if you guess wrong. Cipro is NOT a medicine to be trifled with, and "take one or two pills" is NOT a prescription. I haven't even started on the inadvisability of taking the wrong medication, or the wrong dose, and ending up with a superinfection of resistant bugs, and contributing to the drug-resistant bacteria problem for everybody else. A condom breaking represents a miniscule chance of contracting HIV, but as Dr. Love points out, you wouldn't be able to detect anything for at least three months anyway. Your mind is working over time. Relax. If you end up with a dose of the clap, it will be easily treated, by a doctor. Believe me, the ones here have seen it all... hs

Newly published medical study showed that the rate of HIV infection from sex is less than 2%. Just relax and enjoy your nightlife.
