What is the best mosquito repellant that can be purchased in Thailand? Any new stuff on the market in the last couple years or so?
My home has alot of the little buzzers, and I would like something to keep them from eating me alive.

best mosquito repellant developed in recent time is "citronelle" I think it is available under different brands.
check if there is citronelle in it and they should be good to go.

Have seen the mosquito coils (that burn) Stateside and in southern Thailand. Heard though, that the smoke from these is extremely fine and goes deep into the lungs, deposting very fine (carciniogenic) particles there. Guess you have to pick your poison, so to speak.
Me, I hate the biting little buggers, so I'll brave the lung degeneration.

Lemon Grass, essential in Tom Yam Gung and other great Thai dishes, is a member of the Citronela family, and is said to be a source for local natural mosquito repellants.
Natural Citronella is shorter lasting than DEET, but without the possible chemical side effects.
So that the bugs don't  on nature trip to Kanchanaburi next month, will bring along a bunch of different kinds to be sure to CMA.  Thanks for the reminder.

I usually rub mustard oil all over myself, so far it has worked a treat. Nothing like sharing some good information without fighting, this is the sort of stuff that allows us to keep visiting thailand without getting malaria and dengue. Kudos to the thread originator for bringing this important issue into focus.

And if that doesn't work for you here is another solution: just stay up all night smoking, the smoke drives these mozzies crazy and probably gives them lung cancer too. Serves them right.
