Last year I was unable to get xanax in BKK, but was able to get it relatively easy in Pattaya. Has anyone had a similar experience? What is the current situation in BKK? I am going to Krabi/Ao Nang in September and would like to know if I can expect the same relaxed attitude towards obtaining xanax as I found in Pattaya.

Due to the nature of a Thai lifestyle and daily morning BJ sessions followed nightly f*** sessions, it is not difficult to see why there is not a demand for Xanax in Thailand.

new - and extremely sleepy- update...
Had been largely off Xanax without much effort for the last 5 weeks but got back to it upon reaching Thailand to fight the jet lag. Yet I've slept less than 10 hours during the last three days... and not coz of booze or party, I've spent the last two nights doing research sober over the internet...
TG limo is coming to pick me up in 50mns and I'm out to meet GF in HK... thought it would be a good idea to get there early and make some shopping before heading to Shenzhen tomorrow... go figure...gonna be a wreck and hotel reservation is under her name while she won't reach before early evening... if we can't even trust drugs where is this world going to??

Yes and no. In the case of this thread, Xanax was being inquired about for purposes of inducing sleep and ameliorating jetlag- we shot that down as folly.
But last month, I actually had a Samitivej MD recommend it to me for inducing sleep. Jing jing!
I had told him that, on occasion, I sometimes can not turn off my mind at bedtime and would like to have something on hand in the medicine cabinet. Evidently, he didn't want to write me a Rx for anything stronger such as Ambien and suggested Xanax instead. I couldn't believe what I was hearing adn immediately thought of this thread. LOL
I countered his advise by telling him I'd tried it and had woken up very drowsy the morning after. According to him, that was an indication of a too high dosage. He recommended half the dose.
I have since taken his advice and broken the tabs I have in half. And guess waht? They've actually worked quite well as sleep inducers. Go figure....

The new generation of sleep aids like Ambien, Sonota, Lunesta, etc. are generally quite effective and generally do not leave you with a hang-over or drowsy feeling. I'm post 2 back surgeries and have ongoing issues and sometimes it is a bitch to sleep if my back starts acting up.
I have used these with good results. Like all of these, there is a limit so it is not advisable to take regularly.
Also, noratriptiline (sp?) is an old style anti-depressant that is quite effective for sleep and few side-effects. Been around for years so lots of clinical info on its effectiveness and side-effects. From what most docs tell me, this is a very good alternative and I am told available here easily.
Seems that most folks I know like Xanax as a party drug.... me, I can't see the point.

I can't really see Xanax being much use as a party drug !! But it works for me when I cannot get to sleep. I spend periods of up to a month in a dry environment and after a regular nightly intake of alcohol, sudden deprivation tends to make sleep that little bit difficult to come by. For the first few days half a Xanax helps me back into the rhythm. Also good for long haul flights.
The pharmacy next to Bullys still sells it to me but always with the warning "Don't show people"
There is another pharmacy on the opposite side of Soi 4,a small one (I think next to Majestic Suites) They sell a Generic version called Pharmax which look and work exactly the same but are a hundred baht a strip cheaper.
Xanax is like any other drug of its type (and other types) if taken carefully is ok.The most important thing is not to take a regular high dose as it is highly addictive. The only side effect I have ever experienced were some particularly vivid dreams.

Ah... the Xanax thread... I'll take profit of my last few hours in BKK to give an update on my degenerating health : (
I was actually almost fine last night when we left Indigo but then was it Forte, Glow, Broken Leg or some FL out in the street but I almost passed out in public ?
2 big usual suspects up there... happy I don't stay in BKK too otfen anymore...Still in a huge mess today, with a whole bunch of little bastards playing baseball within my skull. Sure enough couldn't check out on time and wonder if I'll make it to the airport.
Was expecting a 12 hours orgy on caviar and don Pe but afaid I would puke just on the sight of it.
I'm off with daffyziducky now : alcohol and drugs are bad for you!! and those heartless sinners from Bombay Sapphire never cared mentionning on the bottle that gin tonic is far less apetizing when thrown up than upon ingestion. Well, it's actually utterly disgusting. A severe trial is coming up.
As of vivid dreams with Xanax, it's funny, I kinda miss those and wondered if Xanax had anything to do with it.too many dreamless nights with Xanax.
Anyway guys, all of you perverts go to bed on time, it's school day tomorrow!
