Last time I was in LOS my only sufference was caused by the love of my flesh from the mosquitoes!

I am presently in another hot and mosquito ridden country and having the same problem again.

I will be in LOS again next month and wondered if anyone knows of any repellent for the body and for the rooms which actually work!

never had a problem with the little rascals in LOS.  But a couple of months ago I was in Crete and they were vicious. For the room I used one of those devices that you plug into an electrical outlet and put in a tablet. Seemed to work OK and kept them out so no problems.

There is a great mosquito repellent I bought in Thailand. It's called "Taico". I think it's a "t". Anyways, look for a white bottle with green lettering on it. There is also a images of a diamond on the package. This stuff is great. Bought a ton of it and bought it back to the U.S, since it worked so well in Thailand.

if and when i get bitten,i always use tiger balm and the itchiness is gone very shortly.

ABC,

Sounds like a similar description to one i was recommended this pm verbally.  Is it manufactured in Belgium, Brussels? (the chap told me), by any chance?

If it has DEET it will work. Repel 100 is good if you're in the states.  If you get bit and have nothing handy trying rubbing the bite with the inside of a banana skin (yeah, people will look at you funny but it works I've been told).  They also used to have incense coils that you could burn in the rooms but haven't seen any recently.  Also eat stuff with garlic.....I think if you smell bad the little critters will bug off...so to speak.

Any product with DEET 25% and over should do the trick.  Besides Repel, there is also Off! and Cutters.
