Curious if anyone here visits the local pharmacy to get antibiotics or antiviral meds "just in case" after meeting that special "someone right now". Zithromax, Ciproflaxin, or Zocovin are available over the counter without seeing a doctor. It would be crazy to eat these like candy all the time, but what about once or twice a year?

It would be stupid to eat perscription antibiotics without knowing what you have contracted, or if you even have contracted anything.

This is close to the most idiotic topic ever posted here.

Just in case of what exactly ????

I have had sex with hundreds of prostitutes and in los that means at least 3 a day incl bbbj.

Once I caught ghonorea so im more careful and I had crabs once too otherwise nothing, actually much better to use some common sense than take antibiotics like smarties.

Something tellls me you might be interested in taking a package for me out of thailand you will be paid cash 5000 $ and a black guy will deliver it to your hotel.

Not entirely - I've done exactly that on my first trip to Thailand, for prophylactic reasons -- under supervision and advice of my doctor. It was basically to avoid catching anything "unexpected", as my concerns were both food & water, or possible pathogens in water thrown in my face (we traveled during songkran).

Key points:

- once a year
- no longer than 10-14 days
- take the entire amount of the regimen

In retrospect (while this *does* work), it is far better to have antibiotics handy, and take them the moment you feel your health has been compromised.

Things to consider:

antibiotics have side-effects that you need to be aware of!

- cipro : danger of achilles tendon rupture from taking cipro.
- cipro : sensitivity to sunlight (skin and eyesight).
- amoxicillin : digestive sensitivity.

This is simply a stupid idea, but it is very Thai in thought so I will give you credit for that. If you feel your health has been compromised you visit a doctor very quickly and if there is an issue he will put you on a course of antibiotics or whatever. The whole idea of just taking antibiotics because you think that there might be an issue is horrifically bad advice.

Well, you must realize that he probably got that advice from an iPhone App, hahahaha, so go a little easy on him.

Of course, it would be much more dangerous to use the Map App when trying to actually get somewhere...ZING!

Yes, you are right - what you suggest is the better solution for simple people with no medical background, or concept of medicine - I guess like yourself.

It works well if you know what you are doing, and if you are able to 'read' your body's response.

Switch from cipro to amoxicillin - less side-effects, and less hard-core. 99% of what you encounter doesn't need cipro, and you run too much risks with the side-effects.
